ive heard of a daihatsu engine fitted in a mini before  if it is a cb26 or cb50 i wouldnt bother

it would depend on how much work you can do yourself, look at how much it would cost to rebuild a "A" series motor at a specailist workshop, if you can install a fresh low km jap engine for the same or less cost it may be worthwhile

cheers Paul

This is the key point. If you're like Paul and very capable then by all means go for your life. When a man knows what he wants and how he's going to go about it and has in his head the exact result he is going to get - that is what you need.

When i read two lines though i am going to assume the worst that this person is young, relatively new to mechanics, wants more power and wants it done cheap. So with little or no knowledge this person wants power, they also want it now and they want it cheap (dont we all). Not Saying you are this Ralph, but that's the impression i'm led to make when you give us a few words, it shows you can't be bothered to seriously construct a question and give us some information and background about yourself and want you want, to work with.

Goodluck with whatever you choose to do 8)

Gees Josh, you read a lot into two lines.

Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt, and allow him to prove us wrong.

I say if you want a Daihatsu, get a Daihatsu.

But in saying all the above, what Josh is saying makes perfect sense, and I would heed any advice he may want to offer.

That's $0.04

Cheers,
Tricky

Well i agree with your assesment however if you can manage too scrutinize two lines so well then maybe next time you will realise my name is RAPH (Raphael) not Ralph. despite that i am young and wanted a rather quick answer so i cut it short and sweet. I am also new to mechanics. Im not wanting to do the conversion only for power that is a benefit but at the moment i intend to gather enough mechanical knowledge to be able to do the conversion in a few years. The engine is a 1.3L fuel injected 4 cyl
in about 2 years i want to build a ute from a van and put a modern engine in it. Im well aware that its not exactly easy, quick or cheap its just a dream.
When the time comes i probably will use a different engine and ive got a lot to learn.

The Italians aren't dumb and they used Dai engines...so at least you know they fit on the subframe!

That was after deTomaso took over, different car- it doesn't have Mini subframes, it runs struts like most modern cars.

you would want to make sure that engine is not corroded inside the water jackets. i just had to get my ("HC" << thats the engine type) head done and a new head gasket my head was all corroded and a little bit on the block .. and my rings are on there way ... and my map sensor just died .. i the water outlet housing broke ... twice ... needed a new radiator cuz it was 80% blocked ... and something like the axles are squeeking constantly.. one axle is bent.. and now it just desided it wants to wine like its got a super chager on it ... biggest bucket of crap i bought (and its mostly just engine problems)
is the engine out of a g200? what year is it

i did have a g11r turbo with the cb60 engine in it .. that went good but i didnt have the turbo cuz some goober desided they wanted to blow it up an put a n/a engine in it b4 i got it ... then i crashed it :P ... now my lil sis (10yo) is using it for driving around the paddock
