Nah it wasn't the humidity, the correction factor on the day was only 1.02.

Sure it's only a single SU, but it's a 1-3/4", on Australia's (maybe the world's) best single SU A series manifold, developed with both a flowbench and dyno..

GR's 1401 stroker with the same HS6 carb, manifold and cam (but obviously more headwork etc) got nearly 140HP at crank on this dyno recently. About the same as Benjamin's 1132 turbo running 10 or 12psi.

pics do tell a thousand word but i only need a few

"the best manifold for the a series is a long and straight one" who ever said this i dont know but with that being said would a long and decently straight single su manifold a good comparrison to a short and straight manifold,

i know its to combat the 1st cylinder fires rich the second fires lean problem, but i can see the use of a few mandrel bends and a straight section before the port making a good single su manifold

It's not just the fact that the GR one is effectively 7" long (in the port runners), it has lots of internal volume.
Like I said it was developed to give power.... not just look pretty in a brochure. It flows heaps.
Here's the only pic I have-

How much do these GR SU manifolds go for? And do you need to run a bulkhead box to fit them in?

Some Minis fit them fine, some dont. I have seen clubbies fit them in with an inch spare and other not.
Mine didnt fit, all I needed was a tiny bit more room to allow the jet to fit.
Dont know about roundies (he has one on his roundy van)

Give him a call for price - +612 9630 2195

Peter.

I think they are a bit over $200, I've not bought mine yet. Graham is waiting on castings to come in at the moment.
No, no need- they will fit a 1275 with no box, but as for a filter you need an offset K&N or Ramflo.
Sometimes you need to use Mr VBFH to bump the firewall, but not always.

Smallbores are trickier as the carby sits lower (block is not as tall).

I just took the rocker cover off and checked valve lift (RE13 cam).
With .020" clearance, and Toyota Corolla rockers, it has .402" actual lift, so .422" total.. 8)

willy, they are 1.46:1 not 1.48, in this install they are 1.455:1 actual. There is another .004" more lift hiding there if I play with pushrod length and rocker post height, but it's hardly worth chasing on a road motor.

The old (and better than current design) centre oil pickup now has a new gauze mesh silver soldered onto it with oxy/lpg.
I couldn't find any new mesh, so I persuaded a standard oil pickup strainer to be a donor.
After multiple degreasings to get the oil out of the mesh, the gas welding process went well.

So tomorrow I can finish the gearbox off, after I braze a support bracket onto this oil pipe. :D

Pistons are Hypatec 73mm, but the dish is modified to the same shape as Graham Russell's new ones, as the RH one in this pic-

Total advance is 28° at crank.
Advance plate in dizzy has 9° (dizzy degrees) so static advance is about 10°.
