OK this may not be the appropriate space for this new topic but i feel its relitive to our indevers to but late model motors in our old Minis,Mokes and Morries for with out them we could all be introuble.

This is how it started for me.
invited to compete in motorkana
used 96 Magna auto
had crap loads of fun
got beat by some exotic euros and japas

So i got the bug and got to thinking i should buy a cheap grey import..nah to easy.

i looked at a second hand super charger off the MR2,$350each cheap then through the corse of a week found theres no one interested in working on or rebuilding the 1275 A series motors and at 5-7k to build a spanker via the East coast it was enevitable that the Retro fit was on the cards.

I've done plenty of them over the years mostly V8's to small cars, so i'm off surfing the net and get this little ripper forum God Bless You Guys.

"Babe" what do you recon about fitting a Jap motor to the Moke.
i expected a pay your house off first or some thing along those lines but was suprised that she wanted to know alittle more.
She's been along for the ride ever since and yesterday increased the budget and said she's looking forward to competing in it.
i didn't know were to look.......fark what will i drive!

So the morale of the story is.

Get your Ladys involved in the build...hey if you ask and they say no atleast you asked and they will know it.

im expecting plenty of SNAG insults and jibes but if the man in the long black trenchcoat cant perturbe me then nothing will.

i'm saving my bucks and in the new year i'll be going flat out on this retro fit with some good help from Brissy.

Feebee i love you.

Awesome, I know what you mean, my wife convinced me to sell the Mini I had when we first met. Now 10 years later she has was actively involved in me buying another Mini (well the 1st one). Now I just let her know when I am looking at another one. Honey can I buy a van??

You silly men its the oldest trick in history, the extra $5000 increase in the budget for you now will automatically turn into $100 000 + for them over the next 5 year period (new furniture , renovations, extensions, holidays etc). Take your blinkers off and look at the big picture you are getting baited!! :P

Sure it may give her ammo for the future but as long as she's supportive I say GREAT! Better than nagging in your ear for months on end.

We sold my restored 1972 Clubman to pay for half of our wedding. My wife literally cried when the new owner drove off with it. 2 years later, she's really supportive for me to get another one and permission provided to do a 4EFTE conversion :D

"I hasten to add Baldrick, that woman's preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well, but you are surprised to find it done at all."

Or.......

Blackadder: "What did I say before entering camp this morning?"
Baldrick: "Where's the most secluded place to urinate?"
