hey guys just wondering to what cam i should run? i will have a 1293 with my twin 1.75inch su's and cooper s spec head? i was thinking something alongs the lines of a 30/70 duration cam but want to go something a little more wild...any suggestions would be good.

You'll need a close ratio gearbox for anything wilder. Jack Reed reckons that anything wilder than a 30/70 is no good for a standard ratio box as it won't stay 'on cam'.
Anyway why do you want to go wilder than a 30/70? that's big enough for a street car.

I have a friend who run on track with a 1275 31/36 cylinder. he tried a kent 286, then the str930 as on mini miglia and now he will try a kent 310.

for you it's depend on what you do with car. trackday, only street car...

for a street car you don't need to search torque very high becase it will be very boring. the most inportant thing is the torque.

if you use 1.75 you need big cam as the str930 or 649. for street road, twin hs4 will be better and use a piper 285 or 270 or the graham russel cam re13ot but I think it works better with single hif44.

for 30/70 duration: piper 270/285 re13ot are the cam close to these low

I forget, my friend who use the str930 has 2 hif 1.75.

for the torque it's better to have it from low because in a street car if your camshaft start at 2500rpm or more you will be riduculous with other car which start before you.

if it will be for me, my choice will be the 285° piper or the re13ot

one other thing very important, your dizzy..

if you want to have some fun since it is not an everyday used car & feel the motor come on the cam, then get a racey profile, but make sure the compression ratio is correct.
i dont think you need a close ratio box, especially if you have got bigger than 1275, there will be power from 3000 to 7500rpm which even a std ratio box can handle.
i have a 286 kent cam in by 1330 & i would go for a racier profile next time.

I have a 1330cc running an RE13 and get 120bhp/100ft/lb torque (engine dynoed) from 2300rpm to 7000rpm... 3.44 diff with S ratio gears. Takes off well, crusies well. Have nothing but praise for this cam.
