If you stroked a motor and it was bored out to 1412cc, so "crankshaft is offset ground to 84.3mm stroke then crossdrilled, wedged and ni-tempered finally micro polished journals for precision sizing."

Could you forced induction this motor or are you asking for trouble? Is the crankshaft up to this sort of abuse (I would assume supercharging and not turbo) and could the gearbox handle this much torque. I see a few stroked supercharged Minis on the forum but nothing taken out to this size.

All comments appreciated.

Shouldn`t be a promlem at all really, we have a 1426cc supercharged mini & it`s fine

we`ve built so many stroker full race motors over the years that i`ve lost count & all have been extreamly reliable

Bore flex "can" be a problem with very large holes as there ends up with not much meat between the bores so we do suggest that 73mm bore to be still strong enough to resist all that, but there are quite a few 1380 turbo motors around England "seeming" to be handling it so far.

Just do it :-)

I have a 1412cc stroker with turbo, injected, twin cam, 16v, for my new road car (monaco fastback) so i`m all for it :-)

Matt what pistons do you recommend for a build like this? Flat top or dished?
Is it possible to get the compression low enough by grinding out most of the head?

Thanks.

Dished, never use a flat top unless you absolutely have to...

I would have thought that flat top pistons would give you too great a compression ratio for a force fed motor.. unless of course you chew out lots of the head..

id love to supercharge my 1426, but id have to carve the chambers with an angle grinder to get them big enough!

I`ve done a 35cc chamber head before (started as totally stock tho) & i`ve also done many many 32cc & 33cc ones,,, but i really & truely don`t recomend taking them out that far.

I`ve just done this 28cc one yesturday for Sean (user name fiji) --->

It all comes back to how much boost you want to play with & what fuel you`re using & & & & & etc etc etc heaps of factors to play with so most important to start with a plan & stick to it all the way through.

Use dished or low-deck pistons is the simplest/easiest/cheapest/most bestest method to start with tho

Then pump it up hard :-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here`s a 32cc one i prepared earlier :-) ---> This one was made for my 1510cc roady donk we used in targa tassie Rally, Big bath tub thing, huge valves & huge ports, very very wicked head indeed. (even if i do say so myself :-)

You should be able to see the "Bath-tub" part a bit better in this image as it was in the middle of being munched out :-)

I'm a bathtub man too, here's my 1310 one. I was running Mahle flat tops then.:D
Valves are 35.7 inlets, 31 exhausts.
Chamber size in this pic was 28cc, I've since decked it a fair bit for the 1360- running dished Hypatecs...

If you are after some good pistons for your motor mate, I reccomend the pistons from Russell Engineering. They are already dished, and strong little bugger. give Graham a call on 02 9630 2195 for more info.

I had my 1412cc stroker turboed for 8 years and the only reason i removed the crank was the flywheel tail was worn down, great torque in N/A and so much better with a turbo torque was just awesome.
