 not happy, after my gearbox issues, i changed engines, for ease, anyway, it is a lowkm engine, that i had in the 1300, anyway, it had a blown head gasket, so i changed it, put it in the mini.
started, ran nice, went for a short drive to burn off the oil in the bores etc,by the time i got home, t had dumped all the water, went out this evening, filled the water, and turned it over, it spat all the water in the top tank out in like 2 turns, petrol vaour coming out of the cap :?

so, how can it leak that bad? or have i got deeper issues? cracked head?

it went real good till it spat all the water!!! :

It's blown the gasket between the chamber and a water hole.
Check block and head are flat, fit a new gasket.
Best ones IMO are the Payen BK450.
The copper ones have not been real reliable since they got rid of the asbestos in the middle. They are dearer too... :!:

Did you use the right torque and correct order when tightening the head-bolts?

Image

Block and head MUST be perfectely flat.
If not, they need to be skimmed!
(I´ve never had a head wich wasn`t bent, btw)

Then it´s neccesary to carefully clean the block´s and head´s surface.
I use a blade (to clean ceramic hobs) to clean the surface,
after that I´m smoothing it with a very fine sand-paper.

You may have to check if the bores for the head-studs are "pulled out" of the block´s surface. If so, you have to sink them.
Watch out that the surfaces are free of fat and oil (even fingerprints) when fitting the head-gasket!

It´s a bit more work doing it this way, but it will last "forever".

For the overhaeting-problem check ignition-timing and mixture-setup!
If these parameters are not ok, the new gasket has no good chances of surviving...

And, don`t forgett to re-tighten the bolts after 3-400km!
Bolt by bolt, loosen them 1/4 turn and retighten it in the shown order.

Cheers,
Jan

PS: Hope, you understand my weird english :D

block and head were fully cleaned and sanded with very fine paper(studs removed) and oil, and i used an ACL monotorque gasket, all torqued up correctly, ive done many many head gaskets before and never had trouble.

ill lift it again tomorow, but ive never had it blow out this violently. ill get a straight edge and check everthing tomorow.

my guess is that the head is warped.
