Hi, pretty new to Australia and trying to find out what engine conversions are most popular and most legal!?!?!

I'm used to boring blocks and flowing heads upto about 1380, turbo'ing the a series using an MG metro set up or last thing i did back in the uk was a supercharger.

But have noticed you do alot more engine swaps here.

cheers people.

i would say the suzuki gti (g13b) engine is the most used in minis here in oz at the moment, i know of about 15, maybe more. The toyota starlet gt (4efte) is also popular with about 7-8 done now.

The best conversion by far is the diahatsu gtti (cb70), only a 3 cylinder but will eat a 4efte for dinner! (all tongue and cheek)

I did the 4efte mini in 2002, have since sold it and now doing the cb70 in a round nose.

I'm in the slow process on doing one.

Mine should be the 3rd one on the road in Adelaide, as far as I'm aware.

But I'm a loooooong way off completion, only just started.

It's a 1.0L engine, possibly 993cc.... Wikipeida does not 'know all' on Diahatsu engine. :(

Lightweight
Easy to fit in roundnose
Still Good Power
Uniqueness
Came up at the right time.

Sorry to go off topic a little but....
Does any one know if there is a size difference between the cb70 and the non turbo 3 banger they have? And i mean physical size and mounting positions?
Cheers
Dan

Got it all covered there josh!

Motor only weighs in at 60kg's  4efte over 100kg's
no cutting was needed to fit, only small hole for alternator in round nose
will make 150hp@wheels all day
no one got one on the rd yet in the world
couldnt resist getting a whole charade with running gear for $1500 and selling bits of it totaling $1200 :D

Oh and it will be allowed to run with the super mini class
