The dash is gone. With some help from my dad we got the dash out very quickly, the annoying part was all the little screw on 'hooks' for the electrics.

Next step which I'll probably start tommorow morning is the clutch pedal then master cylinder stuff.

Work is coming along nicely, now I need to get hold of a front, dry subframe. Was going to buy a Leyland Mini and just steal the front subframe off that while I was prepping the body but not much has come up that I like (appart form a primered body and parts in Melbourne on eBay, should contact the seller.....). So I need to get myself one at a decent price. I've called a few Mini places and they want a little too much I think.

Anyone got a suitable Mini for my project, preferably in SA of course. Looking for a good rust-free and dent-free Leyland rolling shell.

I spoke to Ben, or "92" on here, last night and now I'm motivated, can't wait to get this project going!

I'll be looking at a few potential 'shells soon.

Well glad to help out! :P

But the projects going on the back burner appart from maybe the subframe. Not sure yet.

As I've got to pay for a gearbox rebuild for my '64 Mini.

OK, just a quick update.

I bought another Mini, as per my sig says, a 1977 Mini LS. It's mostly deseamed just have to finish and has a blue and black interior. WIll make a beautiful car. It's a prime candidate for 4EFTE-ing, mostly because it has 4 pot ventilated Metro Turbo brakes. 8)

I'll take some photos tommorow, it's been dismantled and has tons of parts. The car was a vinyl roof model so has roof rust but the rest of the body is good.

The theme will be dark blue metallic (there's a new Ford Falcon colour which looks pretty awesome) with a black vinyl roof. 12 inch superlights (the car already has them) and she'll be right. :)

Dam...I'm excited.

I'm going call this project "Mini LS-T" being the (rare?) model that it is.

The rolling shell.

Image

I'm rather happy with this shell, appart from the roof (which isn't all that bad at all) it's very solid. Floor is all nice and painted and subframes look great. Rear beaver panel is gone, but a brand new one was included in the sale. Very few dents too!

The sexy engine bay.

Image

I sure hope I don't scratch it too much! Also the subframe is too nice to hack up, I might buy another dry front subby, get that all hacked up and paint it the same colour scheme.

The Metro Turbo brakes, the 4 pot calipers are in the shed at the moment, along with boxes and boxes of parts.

I was wondering that myself but I haven't had a good play with metro brakes yet to know what they look like .

Doesn't look like metro to me - looks like drum hub and cv with adaptor plate. From the pick i think i can also see a spacer..

Very nice engine bay 8)

About the brakes, I don't really know, I'll make sure the engineer likes them and all. However the car did come with a spare set of hubs. So I'll have a look at those. My guess is the spares are Metty, the ones on the car are drum brake.

He did talk about the Metro's having positive camber wen bolted onto the Mini, so some mods were done. Either way it should all be cool. :)

Also I have sexy stainless steel braided brake hose which came with the car (bought brand new in the UK) but I have a funny feeling they won't be legal. :(
