Depends on the gearbox attached to it.

But in short, yes it'll fit (in a clubman).

You could expect big HP from a turbo one. N/A seems good but not all that impressive IMO when compared to the SR20DET, but in a Mini, .

yeh i figure im not gonna be able to drive it anyway on the road if its n/a (stupid p-plater laws) might as well go the whole hog and chuck in a sr20det, bored and stroked  (hopefully get it to a 2.4)

does anyone know if this has been done before?

When I was 13 and into ricers and S13s I remember seeing HKS stroker kits for various Nissan motors.

There are 2.4L Nissan eninges though, but I don't know how good they are.

you can buy a 2.4l engine from nissan, it was fitted to the american "240sx" (it was apile of crap, americans pay top dollor for sr20dets)down here we had the 180sx, which had ca18's and later models had sr20's.
if you managed to sqeeze in an sr20det i doubt that you would need more power then it already has. check out some of the uk forums, most people who fit vauxhall 2L engines stick with rear wheel drive so they can attempt to keep the power on the road.

JC and I have test fit a SR20DET into a Clubman, it will fit but only in a clubman. To fit it into a round-nose, you will have to do a nose extension in the order of 100mm.

SR20DET's are great motors, very torquey and make heaps of power - you definately wouldnt want anymore than stock SR20 in a mini, definately.

The 2.0 turbo and the 2.4 litre stroker kit would be overkill in a mini, not to mention being illegal under DOTARS legislation.

If I were you, I would just stick to a N/A 2.0 litre or less (like B16, B18 etc) until you get the hang of it, or something significantly smaller turbo-charged!

Let common sense rule here!!

My $0.02

Cheers,
Tricky

i only had a brain explosion when i saw a sss pulsar drive by, and thought what if...
we were going to extend the engine bay to compensate anyway and convert it to a rwd. i really dont like the ca18's.
so heres my questions,
1) would it beat a vtec down the quarter?
2) could i do a round nose conversion on it?
3) why is it illegal under dotars (i'll only use it at track days for the next few years, p-plater laws)?

thought of a vtec, but i want to stand out.
so most of you reckon a n/a sr-20 is the way not the det?
