Doc you know my build - pretty similar. Wedged, stroked, 1412, RE13 that big head you used to have etc. It doesn't like reving much past 6,500 (never really taken it past 6.5k as it starts sounding scarry (or maybe its the knowledge of how much that engine cost to build thats scarying me) - but Wendy will like it - bags of torque down low and you can cruise all day at a lazy 1600 - 2000 rpm (but have to bring it to atleast 2500 rpm before burrying the pedal).

That looks SO sexy! I wish I could do a build like that. Your wife is one lucky lady!

Mike,
This one is getting an SU HS6 on (probably) a GR manifold.
I was going to use a Dellorto 45 but she says too friggin' noisy.

Here's the stroker crank just after wedging, before I dressed it up a bit-

Doc...I drove a big-engined HS6 carbied jigger on the Hay weekend....muted induction noise was not a feature

BTW we have a highly paid Metallurgist in the "family" now....he lives over Baulkham Hills way

Yep sure will, don't hold your breath though I need to build a gearbox first.
Unless i drop it on GR's empty `dyno donkey' box..

<edit> RE13 cam and Isky lifters are in, now I just need a decent duplex chain and I can time the cam in properly... 8)

All looks the goods Kev. Very sexy looking and no doubt will be a absolute monster when completed. Wendy's gotta be happy with that, good luck with the final preparations and testing. It'll be one torquey strong motor.

The head will be on it and cam timed in this weekend.
re the dyno run, I'm putting it on GR's dyno test gearbox sometime in November, and we'll invite people around there like last time, for a BBQ.
Details on this will be posted when I have the date sorted.

<edit> a bit of trivia-
The Hypatec pistons in this motor came out of the 8 port Elder headed 1360 motor that we dynoed at GR's last time. A fresh set of rings now and they are good to go.:D

latest spec RE13 cam is now timed in, next step is fit the timing cover and paint the block and head.
I've decided to then build a gearbox, it saves installing the motor on GR's box then wasting gaskets etc to do it all again later.
The Clubby van's box will be a rodchange as usual, but probably with 1275GT gears (same as Mk2 S but to suit 18mm nose mainshaft) and a 3.44 diff.

Kev why an HS6 as opposed to an HIF44? I can remember GR saying something about preffering the HS6 for performance, but I thought the HIF44 was a more civilised option (for the lady atleast)

I like HS carbs and hate HIFs....
If it's good enough for GR's 1401 stroker it's good enough for mine. 8)
Besides, I already have one...

WTF would be more civilised about an HIF? :?

Yeah, it is.
Just for fun on the dyno day I'm bringing the BIG ported Redline manifold and a 45 Dellorto with 38 chokes, we'll see which carb is Top Dog... :P
