exactly what I was thinking when i decided to put the battery at the front. To get the last bit of traction.

The reduction of weight at the back will be compensated once I put a larger capacity fuel cell at the back which is in the middle rather than to the side as with the standard fuel tanks so I think this wont be an issue. :)

Cheers

MM I think it was on a website I found but that was cost not cost and shipping so who knows how much it would be? I will try and dig up the link?

Cheers

Matt

Matt where did you get quoted $1200 for the Quaife ATB Helical?

I asked the importer (New Zealand) and they wanted $1450 + $150 or $290 Shipping depending if i go direct or via NZ.

Even in NZ$ that's AU$1500 landed...

Josh,

Are you still after a helical LSD??

Cheers,
Tricky

Dan,

I havent got one for sale, but I picked up a helical for Tony's 4EFTE for about $880, plus $130 shipping from Japan.

So, for about $1000, a genuine new helical LSD was his.

The problem is, helical LSD's are no longer being produced for the 4EFTE, and there are only a limited amount left in stock.

Cheers,
Tricky

I ordered a Quaife Helical Tricky, thanks for the offer :) it should be here by the end of next week, it just made it to NZ today 8)

I reckon helical is the way to go for a road car.

No argument from me, and Quaife probably make one of the best examples there is (not to mention that every CART car that lines up on the grid uses one as well).......but seeing mine has the TRD Viscous unit I am staying with that!

Tony's was a genuine TRD unit, and TRD in their infinite wisdom decided to stop manufacturing them - from the email we got back from Japan, there are still a few left (but they also said be quick!).

Dan - do you want me to place an order for you? Does anyone else want a LSD - either helical or mechanical???

Pub - sorry to keep hijacking your thread!

Cheers,
Tricky

thanks for the comments guys,

I still dont think I am doing it fast enough.. almost a year has gone and I still hven't even started the engine!

but some good news.. I should be able to start it probably in the next couple of days though :D . Need to connect up top hose, fill her in with coolant and away I go.

Got all the parts for the exhaust on Friday, all 2.5" stuff so should be good. For the time being ( just to get the thing started etc) I managed to cut the exhaust flange from the original cat converter and weld it on to a piece of pipe! ( the original piece downstream of the cat)

Expecting it to be a liiitle bit noisy but should be ok heheheh

I hooked up the battery and turned the iginition on... everything lit up ( dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing :? )

A question for you guys: When I put the parkers on, the meter console lights were pretty dim.. it might be my half flat battery, but aprart from this, did the starlet come with a illumination adjusting knob thing???

Tricky: I dont mean to bug you but some time ago, I asked if I could have the wiring diagrams for the rear of the starlet? Any chance you can send them my way? thanks heaps

Cheers fellas
