The higher the number, the higher the revs at a given road speed, but the better the acceleration.

I have a site bookmarked that does the maths on my work computer.

Ah - ok that's opposite to what I expected.

so in that case the 3.44 would give a higher road speed at 4000rpm than the 3.647 but at the expense of accelleration. Got it.

Thanks for that.

My mate with the 1275 twin point injection and A/C front cut transplant has a 2.9 diff. He loves it becuase he does a lot of long distance trips in that car. By my modded 1100 with a 3.44 beats him off the line! :)

One thing to note is that the size of your wheels also has an effect on your speed/revs. With bigger wheels a higher diff ratio won't be as high on revs.

My mate is putting a 2.9 in his next donk. He will just use the car for highway work.

He's got a 3.7 in his 'round town car.

As I don't have the luxury of keeping a highway car and a 'round town car I'm going for the 3.44 (with 12" wheels). Should be alright to sit on 70mph up to brisso every now and then.

WhoDat...seems we'll be travelling similar paths with our 1275LS's....Doc got a great "how to" for ya diy: http://www.inlope.com/%7Etzi/ausmini/vi ... php?t=1498

If your after the Pertronix Ignitor conversion kit (DIY) you can call them on 03 9761 1110 and speak to Stewart. The kit number is 5838, it'll soon cost $250 (price drop) and overnite air to Sydney's about $11.

Also over at www.miniclinic.com.au for A+ engines they've got a complete electronic setup, a 45D (?) dizzy and all for about a 100 bucks more than Pertronix's conversion kit.

And yeah aint this a shitty time of year to be chasing tyres!!! Tempe tyres 'puter says they got 10 in stock, but when u get there they can't find them lol lol. Best price i got so far's been $100.00 a piece. I only need 2.......

It's all a bit dear I reckon, when we can buy the same Pertronix for around US$70 + $7 postage, from http://www.vintageperformance.com/retro ... /lucas.htm .. or get a complete Pulsar dizzy (better!) at the wreckers for $40! 8)

Biggest improvement you can make is a decent cam- get an RE-13 off Graham Russell. :wink:
You will have to pull the motor down to fit it though, with 1100S block.

Welcome aboard Midlife - glad to see you and good luck with your project. - Yep definately going the Pulsar Dizzy route, got that all arganised for the engine swap.

Only 4 days to go and it all starts - 1100 comes out - 1100S [1275] goes in complete with Nissan Dizzy and new clutch kit.

Running out of cash for much else at the moment but you never know, Christmas is just round the corner.

Cheers To all. Dat

I think thanks to Kevin about half of the punters who frequent this forum are either already hooked up with, or planning to build a 1275/RE-13/DHLA45/Honda Disc/Hitachi Dizzy.

I Know I Am.

yer i think im gonna shift my 1275 A+ course from supercharging to NA that goes almost as hard.
im thinking of cleaning her up first with the standard rebuild.
pistons = ?
dizzy = ?
cam = ?
carby = hif44/weber?
crank = standard?
balancing = required?
centre oil pick up = yes
diff ratio = i only fear a quick/standard ratio for long trips, i dont like the idea of the engine sitting at 4g's for 8 hours
diff = lsd, is it worth it?
head = 12g940 what sort of head work?
extractors = lcb's
disc brakes = honda standard size which is??

i was hoping u could fill in the blanks doc.
i've worked out what i want from my mini.
i dont want the complications of the supercharger, even tho i can get a kit and it'll be sweet, my mate superchargered
his datto and i saw the troubles he had, and he's mechanically minded where as im not clicked on in that way.
i want my car to go as hard as it can whilst keeping it reliable. i need to get to work to pay the bills. just wanna get there quick :wink: :shock:

My 1310 has a 3.7 diff in it.... and it was crap. :x

Accelerating hard from the lights, I only used 2nd 3rd and 4th..... then ran out of revs. First gear was pretty much a useless ratio that lasted about a second. Might be handy for offroad driving though :lol:

I'll be going a 2.9 for city driving..... or even lower for highways - if i can find one :?
