Its about 1000-1400 from over east to the west. So I'm guessing about a grand, i'd get some quotes TNT, etc.

It may not be as bad as you think, I transported mine over to Adelaide from perth for $250, was $800 the other way... I think it depends on the demand, ie for some reason nobody wants to goto adelaide?

WA or Qld to Melbourne or Adelaide is generally cheaper for a running car taht the other way. This is because the car transporters leave Adeliade/Melbourne full of new cars, deliver them to Perth or Brisbane and come back half empty. Lots of demand one way, not much demand the other way.

Cheers,

I've been in volved in shipping 3 cars from Brisbane to Melboune over a 10 year period and dispite the broad time frame the prices were all under $500. Last being $480

I've shipped a car from Adelaide to Brisbane. The biggest thing is whether it's driveable! If they can drive it around, it's much, much cheaper than if it's not a runner. I was told that to transport it from Adelaide to Brisbane, it gets moved around 8 times - onto the local truck, off the local truck onto the first intercity truck, then most transport companies going Adelaide-Brisbane change trucks in Melbourne, then another change of trucks in the destination city, to get it onto the local carrier's truck, then off the truck at your place. So it not only needs to run, it almost needs to be fully roadworthy - seats bolted in (mine weren't), reliable brakes, engine fires easily (mine didn't fire that easily), etc. And they won't let you have anything other than the spare in the car. :x
The cheapest I found were Moving Cars. They've had some bad press lately, and they did charge me three times (although it was a glitch, and I received a refund on the two extra times), but I got my gear. They subcontract it out (I think mine was done by Patrick or someone like that). They'll give you a price online pretty quickly. And there were a few companies I rang in Adelaide who were similar prices - not quite as cheap, but close. I was told $480 from Melbourne to Brisbane, too, but the truck changeover caused by coming from Adelaide put the end price up... To about $900. And the size of the car doesn't get you a discount... :( I got the impression that Adelaide to Brisbane and vice versa isn't a common route, either, contributing to the cost difference to Melbourne.

We used Finemores and had to deliver to and pickup from their depot. Probably make a diference to the price.

I've used Canberra Carways a few times - always a good price and great service

I just rang the auto logistics arm of TNT transport.

Was quoted $450 from Adelaide to Sydney (Depot to Depot)

and $798 for Adelaide to Tuggerah (Door To Door).

They said it would take 5 to 6 business days.

I know who I am booking in with when I get notice of a pickup date :)

I had considered just going and picking the car up, but work doesnt really allow me to at the moment which kinda sucks as the drive would be awesome!!

I had a Mini trucked down from Brisbane to Melbourne. $440 depot to depot arrived in 2 days. I sold a Mini and they trucked it to Brisbane, cost the $800. So big difference down the map as opposed to driving up hill.

I used TNT. Very good service, much better than driving it back down. :?
