Just letting out some silly thoughts..

Would there be a way to modify the hydro set up so that things worked transversly.... and inversely now i thnk about it..

ie... you take a corner and the body rolls over the outside front and the hdyro takes fluid from the inside front displacer reducing the roll..


hmm... trying. to draw a diagram for tens of minutes now and i don't think it's mechanically possible...

You need to work out how the hydro system works before you try to re-invent it.
We all know that the fluid goes from the front to the rear and from the rear to the front but when you take a corner and the car rolls where does the fluid go? The answer is nowhere. When the car rolls in a corner it is the rubber springs compressing (and uncompressing) that lets the car lean. No matter what you try to do with fluid the car will still lean.

every drawing i try comes to the end result of a car that has no give in the suspension at all...

And keep her, dry dry dry. If 850s were designed to handle equal to an S they would have put hydro in (haha not really it's cos of cheapness, and hydro only came out on mini, in Aus in 65?? I think).

What I'm saying is this, take a cooper S motor and discs, put in an 850, take a complete cooper S and race. Go hot 850

i have read about this before. making the fluid run tranversely makes thing worse but you can make them independent and thats susposed to be the best or you could just go dry

From what I've seen, making them all independent doesn't really work effectively. If the fluid can't go anywhere, what you have is just 4 rubber cones with fluid locked up in the bag.
I believe some racers had restrictor valves in the hydro lines, where the front hoses attach.. but no I've not tried it.

fit a Citroen hydro system instead.

I pumped up a mini last week with 4 separate bags, i agree with DOC, it would work like rubber cone, but this car was built for rally and believed to be a period mod, could work well in tis application.

Liquid doesn't compress.
So four bags not connected is just a heavy suspension setup.
Cones would be far lighter.

If you want harder suspension, fill your shockers up with silicon and wait for it to dry!

Some people think hydro works like air bags, but no, it doesn't. And the rubber cone part (at top) of a hydro bag is far stiffer than a normal rubber cone is.
