Well yesterday I went for a drive out to heathcote park drags to check out the rotor day they had on. It is about 135 k's and a nice little trip, except for the pot holes

The problem I am having is something that has happened in this mini before on long drives.
After driving about an hours the car starts to splutter when under load. It is weird as it sometimes wont do it at all and other times only does it mildly. Afer a few days it goes away also

I have a weber on a long goose neck redline manifold and a 1310 a+

I have had a think about this and have crossed a few obvious things off the list
It cant be freezing manifold as the at was hot yesterday and it did it before arriving at heathcote and on leaving after sitting in the sun for about 5 hours.

I dont think it is dirty fuel as the fuel as it has hapened about 4 times over the last 5 months.

The things i can think of are:
something fine is in the fuel that works its way into the carby and then after a few days un works it self.

Some sort of fuel starving

I thought it could be the use of fuel ona long drive created some sort of vaccum in the fuel tank but it does it after fill ing up also.

Thats all I got so I would like some suggestions from the guru's of minidom

P.S there was a motary at the show ( a morris minor with a rotary 13B)

Well this sounds very familiar but I found out what it was I was running 45 s on my clubman and after a long drive it would start to do the same thing what it actually was is the jets in the webber freezing you will notice in colder condidtios it happens sooner.
When it happens pull over unscrew the wingnut on the top of the carby and remove one of the jets and I think you will find they are white with ice, this is not visible until you remove the jet run the jets between your hand to thaw them out and you will get another 100klm until it happens again.
Cheap Cure piece of canvas closing of the grill on the inside of the grill then all air the carby breaths is pre heated sounds crude but very effective and fixes the problem.

Regards Les
