This is a genuine question.

What type of DISC brakes are out there that would go well on the rear of a mini, thats not using the rear subframe / set up. the wheels are 13" so size is not much of an issue, as rear brakes are usally small to start with.

Look at adapting a set of discs in the same way the Hondas are mounted to drum brake hubs in the front.

I will. I have a few sets I got to do that, but they were the wrong ones.

they need to be able to have shafts in them also. Ill be making a new rear cradle so I wont need to use the drum hubs.

Hanra you may be able to answer this:

Do you think the brake setup you made for your car would fit on the rear?
I mean, both front and rear use similar drum back plates, and the same drum
(same offset). Since you used a drum drive flange, the disc should fit over a
rear hub carrier.

For the handbrake, ive seen a few cars that run two calipers on the rear - one hydro operated for foot brake, one cable operated for hand brake.

But thats a fair bit of weight to add to the trailing arm....

The rear bike engined cars in the UK run a Ford disc set up I think, Europe has a model called a Scorpio with irs (was a Granada!). These have built in cable handbrake, try looking at a Mondeo?
Also not sure if Fiesta's have tube rear axle and similar set up, might be a bit lighter.

According to the minisport website regarding the (expensive) rear KAD discs is that they are for weight purposes and increased handbraking, not for better rear braking normally.

Look to motorbike brakes. Using newer alloy calipers and special disks you will be able to drop weight in the rear assembly.

Most times, any decent setup will lock the back wheels, this is why running standard drums in good condition is perfectly ok even in semi competition.

I have also seen a mechanical adaption to the pads to achieve a hand brake.

Nice idea - but for competition only.
Somehow I don't think a kickstand would appease the vehicle inspectors for road use on a mini
