I noticed this topic has come up a few times. This has probably been linked before. Anyway here's the link. Looks like a pig of a car and probably could never be registered but at least if people ask this is why! I think the massive hole in the fire wall for the gearbox may be an issue. Still as he says it will haul...

That's a joke if you ask me. The motor and box are just way to high. I'd say he is building a drag car or similar.

Oh and good to hear from you Matt.

From what I understand to get a FWD car re-registered as a RWD is rediculasly hard in NSW. Doesnt this mean you have to go through the Indiviual Constructed vehicles.. etc

I rection you would have been better off cutting the top of the rx7, shortening the chassis and 'pasting' the mini body on top. It likely to be just as stucturally (un)sound if not easier.

I think that looks about right. I've done a 13B rotary swap into a 1977 Corolla and the gearbox had to sit fairly high. The eccentric shaft (crankshaft) sits higher in the block in comparison to a piston engine since it runs through the middle of the rotors. This swap would would sure make a Mini rip, but I prefer to have my cars a little more practical. You'd pretty much need to sit in the back seat with this swap or be very uncomfortable. And I don't think driving a Mini set up to drive from the back seat would be as fun to drive.

The one mentioned was Mitsubishi Starion, but I have NFI whether it fits, or not.
