hey everyone!
i am currently half way through my latest project car... this being a moke that some of you may remember from mini shows... its the blue one with the racing seats and lots of speakers!
i decided that i would like to do an engine conversion as the 998 engine was really struggling with all the extra weight... this was originally brought about because i had a melt down with my wiring... the wiper motor shorted out and melted the whole wiring harness into one big clump of copper wire and rubber! i decided that while the wiring was all out that id get the engine rebuilt and beefed up to give it a bit more go! i was originally going to put a MG Metro Turbo kit on and build the engine for around 20 psi and hopefuly get around the 100 to 120 whp mark! but started to question the reliablity of a 1 litre motor putting out power in excess of 120 hp!
i then decided that a more power full starndard engine would be more reliable and better in the long run!
i decided on a suzuki G13B engine! i chose this engine because they are awsome engines and dont need much done to them to make them put out some awesome power!
next was to find some one who would do the engine conversion which proved to be hard because alot of people just said strait out that it was impossible and that it physically wouldnt fit in the engine bay! well i proved them wrong because andrew/Archangel007 on the north side of brisbane said that he would have no troubles making it fit, and it is now in his work shop being done!
as of now the sub frame has been modified and custom built to fit the G13B engine, the engine at this point is in the car and supporting itself!
there are still a few things that need to be done before it will be driveable! these consist of: all fuel lines and tank have to be fitted, drive shafts made to suite the swift engine, all brakes and brake lines have to be fitted, the swift gti original dash and dials are going to be modified to fit into the moke, custom turbo manifold and exhaust have to be made up!
after all that is done there is alot of body work being done, there is so much that its nearly impossible to list it all! but it will look good when its finished! its getting sprayed a custom dark pearl purple after i am happy with how the body looks!
then the whole wiring harness from the swift is going into the moke, then engine will be tuned up, then hopefully it will be driveable!
the G13B engine will be turboed in its current state, running standard compression.
i have a t25 turbo with an A/R 48 compressor wheel... the same turbos found on the CA18DET engines!
i will be using it with the standard actuator which runs the turbo at around 7-8 pounds of boost.
i know that swift gti's running standard engines with a computer chip and running 8 psi put out around 150 hp atw and runn low to mid 14's down the 1/4 mile. the moke being nearly 400 kilos lighter than the swifts should perform outstandingly well! the only issue im worried about is traction! but its no worries... some big fat tyres should fix that!
im hopeing to have it up and running for the mini show in june... but we'll see!
here are some pics of the progress so far!
this is the moke before the engine conversion started!

this is approx where the intercooler will be mounted
this is the donor swift gti
this is the G13B engine
this is the engine in the newly made custom subframe, its fully supported by the sumbframe at this point, there is slack in that chain!
this is the wiring harness that i pulled out of the donor swift, the majority of this will be going into the moke!
and this is the turbo that i will bu using!
