Just wandering, noticed on another forum a person doing up an old '64 MG. Now that engine looks suspicously like an A-series, I'm gonna take a stab and say its a close relative (A or B series) but anyway, whats the chances of getting a Mini gearbox to fit to the MG engine, coz they are 1.8L or so, would give the Mini some more serious torque.

Or am I completly out of my mind?

MG Midget/AH Sprite will fit if you change the crank and machine the rear bearing cap.. I did one years ago.
MGB etc, no- forget it. Can't rev 'em hard anyway- the cranks bust...... and 5 bearing one is no better.

The B series engine looks like an A series thats been put in a photocopier and enlarged... brittish ingenuity! they even kept the 5 ports from memory.

The 803cc A series and the 1500cc B series were designed around the same time, so similar design. Their granpappy was the 1.2L A40 Devon/Somerset motor.
