The pictures tell it all.

The only thing that worries me is the nice shiny pop rivet. (It may just be the flash) I would like to see the firewall near the plate and the radiator support panel before passing judgement.

The 9F engine prefix was used for ALL Cooper engines irrespective of capacity. ie 997,998,970,1071,1275. There is one exception. UK MK3 cars used a 12H? prefix. OZ CubmanGT used 1200 on S engined cars when the last of the 9FXEY MK2 S units were used up and 1206 on the non S engined cars.
This engine prefix doesn't follow the usual sequence of 8, 9, 10 etc. presumably because the first 997 engined cars used 9F and the others retained the same prefix.
The "F" means twin carb engine. eg. MG1100 GT cars with the twin carb 1275 non S engine used a 12FA prefix.

Which possibly means an EN40B forged steel nitrided crank :!:

it's a ground up resto.... my S has shiny rivetts too, and it's unrestored - I took the ID plate off to clean it

that car turned me on something chronic

Number on radiator support panel is 3350 so that looks good as well.

As Morris 1100 said it would be good to see pics of firewall and rad panel to make sure something shifty hasn't been done.

Gary worked for Rover Aust....which, funnily enough, never imported Rover Minis to my knowledge

Been looking at this car description again, Not sure of Brake pedal, boot floor looks like K / MkII. Plus obvious white roof on an all Lake Green car.

Just posting my thoughts for any potential buyers reference, I have no connection or interest in this car

Graham - it's a wonder that somebody on here doesn't know (or own!!) the car. :?
It does look fairly nice, and mostly seems genuine - do you think it's too much or are you suggesting it's a risky purchase? I personally would be a bit wary spending that much on ebay though - I'd like to see it in the flesh first and drive it, and have the power of negotiation. Maybe the bidder(s) have done just that?
There's another on ebay too - $19k "buy it now".

What you think?
Peter
PS Not long to wait now until mine arrives!

The colour description of that car is wrong. No "BRG" Mark II's from memory. Possibly Connaught Green, but if it's been resprayed, who knows. Wrong or non original colour, deduct at least $5K from the price 8)

I am not trying to be negative or promote this (either) car, (although it has gone up to 15K since my last post!
I asked the seller a question about the boot floor, and if it had been replaced when restored, the answer was 'not that we are aware of' but seller did not add my question to the listing.
It certainly looks like a 15K car, but I would want to look all over it very carefully!
The other looks nice too, although a non standard colour (as is my BRG Mk2) so yeah a bit pricey when you might want to paint it again!
I'm happy to drive mine and enjoy it for a few years, then have the option of restoring it (again!) to it's original Baltic blue! :P

Re one on Ebay.
Car number is wrong. They didn't make 10118 MK2 cars. The car code is also wrong. There is no "K" in the MK2 S code. Should be YG2S4 xxxx not YKG23410118. Typos perhaps or somebody that doesn't know what the correct info should be. Buyer beware.

No, it's the other one miniron is talking about, the 1970 version. It has a compliance plate so should be easy to tell.
