price all the parts... then add labour, and it'd run to 13K pretty quickly....

a set of new 1 3/4 twins would be over a grand, 4 synchro SC/CR gearset is $1650 in the Karcraft catalog, crank wedging = $$$

Soooo many of you are quick to bag something like this costing that much,,, & of course some of you will be able to say that yours didn`t cost half that,,, but then some of you skimp & save & vulture around scoring all the right bits at the right price for quite some time to be able to then hand all that stuff to a good friend who can build a good mini donk

Now,,, that`s all good & well cause you are the one spending the time hunting around for the bits & pieces & adding the whole package together,,, BUT!!! lets now add up all that time hey? shall we??? How long (in real time) have you guys spent looking & sourcing all those good bits???

Yeah???

I`ve spent my whole life addinhg up a few different packages that i havn`t even finished building yet,,, i`d hate to price up all that time for each project engine that i`ve been building over the years,,, crickey i`d be charging way way way more than $13K for them

sooo,,, next time you see a big donk for sale (whether it`s a rocket or a pig in reality) don`t just go bagging out the cost or the person selling or the person interested in buying it,,, spend a sec to think about all the prep work & time & money that`s gone into talking, ringing around, sorting info, collecting & generally working out the package even before a spanner or machine tool has touched any parts

then tell me what you`d sell your own personal big bore road rocket donk for???

Now,,, don`t jump on me for saying all that, i don`t mean to slag on anyone at all here,,, i`m basically jumping in before anyone goes bagging the thing... i`ve no idea who`s engine it is or was or is going to be,,, i`m just saying that some people rather just spend the bucks & others like to skim & save & vulture around for yonks to build up a package of bits at a far less cost than just ringing up & buying it all in one hit brand new.

ok??? i`m done. :-)

ok,,, now you can all bag me. :-)

i'd never spend that amount of money on a mini engine, absolutely ridiculous, you could buy a whole rover mini for that, or do a starlet conversion

hee hee , got me Jon,,, you want fries with that? :-)

& hey, don`t all have a hissy fit when i tell you that one of my friends has a mini race motor that cost $24,000 to build, & that is just the power unit with box,,, but no inlet system, no exhaust system, no distributor, no radiator, no startermotor, no altinator ,,, no outside stuff at all.

twenty four thousand dollars for a mini motor !!!!!!!!!! cheap hey?

Its beside the point.

If you want to keep it 'mini' and use the A-series, you gotta spend the money.

Simple.

Matts right, as soon as someone asks about a price on here they get shot down by someone, who either reckons they know better or has done it for less. Sure I've been in situations where I've scored an absolute cracker of a bargain for my car but I've had to sacrifice as well. I would love to be able to spend that much in one go, and if Dale has the moolah and is willing to spend it, go for it.
