I have recently picked up an original Sunshine for my missus to drive around, and it got me wondering as to just how many of these lil beasties are left. If youve seen one or know of one just let me know. And preferrably the real ones.

A mate of mine has one with a ragtop, looks factory. The car is a POS though- been sitting in his shed 10 years, was rusty when he got it. (he bought it only for the 1275, S box and brakes...). What year did the Sunshine come out?

From what i can gather, around 76, although not limmited to that. We picked this one up for $600 completee with 1275, Contessa's and in not bad nick. Got a few extras as well, nudge bar, twins, etc. All the motor needed was a head gasket. No Rust....unbelievable.

from http://www.minilimitededitions.co.uk/index.htm

October 1977 Leyland Mini Sunshine - Unknown number of cars produced. 998cc engine (40bhp) again. Sunshine roof and tinted windows. Sold for $4395, when a Honda Civic cost $4226, an Alfa Romeo Alfasud a staggering $6650 (which must have made the Honda Civic look a real bargain!), and the Holden HX $5614.

Good deal! Did it have discs too???!

Don't laugh- I got an 850 with 1293A+, S box and S brakes for $650 once. Body is still waiting for paint... :x

My mate's Clubbie has hydro, so must be around `71-73. Probably was a 1098 Clubbie tarted up with a rag roof.

I have spoken with a guy in NSW (Syd) who is restoring one. Was trying to sell a 1275LS to me, as he has shelved that project in favour of the Sunshine.

The main reason I am asking is because the chap I puchased it from said there were only about 11 left alive. I didnt believe him of corse but all the same I'd like to get a rough idea. Alls I know is they are VERY thin on the ground.

Thanks for the into miniman,
I wrecked one, last year, they are just a clubman with GT like trim "luxury", bee sting areal, centre bincle with radio, has flares spaced drums, nudge bar, tripple cluster, they ran a 998cc single carbie etc. nothing 2 fancy, it also has a sunroof "that most leak i was told"., these cars were marketed as a lady's mini ..... which could explain why they had a nudge bar "na just kidding"
They are rare however, But are they anymore wanted than any other......

Well if someone wants a mini sunshine sunroof, compliance plates, bee sting areal, Nudge bar, to make a complete mini sunshine mok, PM me with an offer....
