The current Minispares centre pipe is the one under discussion here, the previous design ones DO work well.
Current ones are a horizontal pipe sucking in the end, and gauze is small too.
The good old ones are blanked at the end, and cut away underneath. 8)

Yeah but who can get previous design anymore?? I think it is safe to say that there is only one type of design available new these days and that is the current mini spares one with the pipe chopped off at right angles and the mesh welded onto the end...

All is not lost- the late one can be modded, all it takes is an angle grinder and some more mesh.
Ask kazjim what happens on the track with a rodchange box, no centre pickup, and an oil level that's a tad low..

If you decide to risk it without a centre pickup on the track, please add anothe 600mL extra oil above the full mark....

Bloody Hell!!!
I've got a Minispares centre pickup on the bench waiting to go in. I've allways used the ST ones in the past without any problems. I brought the Minispares one to avoid pulling my current box apart to get the pickup.
Looks like plan B may have to be invoked.
Apart from the actual end of the pipe being shaped differently the only difference I can see is that the mesh is finer.
Looks like I might have to modify the Minispares one and use a coarser mesh which would seem to be the issue here. Either that or extend the length of the mesh to give a bigger surface area.
What does everybody think about this pickup? Obviously all is not well here.
Any thoughts on mods to the mesh?

Regards
RonR

The main prob I think is the pipe sucks horizontally. The old one is cut away underneath, and the strainer goes further along pipe.

I just rob mesh off std Mini strainers to fix old ones, it worked for me last time. Clean it real good then silver solder onto pipe.
