Well, Less munching is more accurate. It also engages the ring gear from the other side so if it is all mangled from the inertia starter, the side the pre engaged comes from is still 'fresh'!!

Quiet starter motors... I would not call that a major feature  Who cares?? not like you have it on for that long, and the dellorto will be 50 times louder anyway

Graham likes these too, he says when big bores are hot they are harder to start?

I just do what Dr Mini does and wire in a kill switch. Turn it over first then flip the switch. Can't fault it...

Mines original 1964 model :D Still works fine, and it's not that noisy, not as nosiy as your average bogan, 1983 commondore. Lucas is crap but it still works? Must have been ajpanese lucas....

re the ignition kill switch mentioned above, I put it in after shedding teeth off 3 Lucas starters, 2 with NEW pinions on. :x
My motor runs about 16* static advance and needs it, but this caused kickback during cranking and with a 550CCA battery, it was the pinion that gave.
Now, I just crank it up and throw the switch... `CONTACT'!!! :P
All good. Current starter is a UK factory recond Lucas. :D

I put a gemi starter in the min about a month ago... so far it hasn't given me any probs and I'm quite happy with it... maybe I'll change my mind when it gives up... but until then I'll live in ignorant bliss hehe
