Depends on your definition of dramas. You know what they say - one man's pig is another man's princess.

Pfft - by the time the Bill or Act gets agreed, documented, ratified and then enforced, you will be onto your third conversion.

I've just bought a cobra and have been told that you need to put in a Euro 4 compliant engine. That means all the old 351's and such cant be used and i have to go basically a new engine. But this is because it is an ICV. I am pretty sure that this is taking effect as of Jan. Stupid thing is a hot rod can have any engine it wants in it, basically they are an ICV anyway. There is a three year rule or something that i'm trying to wrap my head around. My engineer hasn't said anything about the mini not passing because of engine emissions.

Well lets try and make sense of all this stuff, a ICV is treated as a totally new one off vehicle and as such must meet all the latest ADRs, its a load of bull but the ADRs are there to stop small volume vehicle builders but the pollies will claim its for safety but who ever believes a pollie

A hotrod is a modified vehicle just like a mini with a Toyota/Honda engine and as such it is only the modified part of the vehicle that has to be engineered and complied, if it started life as 34 Ford or a 74 mini it is still treated as such, it all gets a bit funny but basically that is it, a ICV isa new vehicle and modified vehicles are just that modified and thoise modifications need to be engineered :D

adr rule changes effective ? when ever they agree on somthing will affect different vehicals in different ways the mini is currantly 2.5xgvm for turbo 3x gvm for atmo
rule changes that will affect the mini are 20%
20% weight difference 20% power increase
so i have been told
the adr 27, 28 for emissions will not effect the mini complied pre 1974
we are pretty lucky to get away with what we do to minis now

a mini with stock starlet engine is hardly safe to send your granny to shops in

Never thought we'd see you post on here matt :)

So what is this 20% over? stock output of the fastest model? your model? 20% over the most you can get out of an a-series? cause alot of us are driving around in mini's with a-series making 20% more power than stock with few mods?

I'm going to drop around this week to have a chat 8)

Josh

Hey matt,

Brad here mate, so the rule thats is going to stop 4efte minis being built is the 20% power increase?

looks like a way around it maybe to get it engineered and registered with the non turbo 4efe and then add turbo gear to it?? but then there are problems with getting it legal again.

20% power increase will put the limit at around 70hp??? whats it go off? the cooper 's' model in the range or what the car left the factory with?

Sounds like it's going to affect more than conversions....or does this only apply to engine conversions?

Alot of 1275's are going around with more than 20% over a Cooper S..? 20% over 70HP is ~84HP? Ben's little 1100 turbo is making more than that, hell..my 1152 is pumping 20-30% more over stock?
