I'm hoping to get the mini back from the shop in a week or so, it's freezing here in Dunedin minus 7. I hope you have some heating in the garage, it will be fun when you look back and you can say I did all the work yourself.
Cheers Paul

Looks sweet as tidy work there mate. Bet she goes like a friggin' rocket now. Sexy looking brake setup too and love the body paint as well.

yep thats right craig if you had a regulator it means it had a dynamo. is your subframe design complex? is this a pretty reliable engine? i'd like to do the vtec thing but i'd also like something thats a bit less common and this seems like a good one

the subframe is very basic with not to many problems i would do some things on the subframe different it i was to do it again tho, but overall these motors fit in the hole well and they are a reliable engine for the age and would recomend the conversion. When i started out with the idea i really just wanted a reliable japanese efi engine with 5 speed the turbo was just a bonus :D

whats the actuall engine number or code? i wouldnt mind calling up a few wreckers to see avail and prices etc. what are planning on doing with your fueling and all that? making up some kind of setup in the boot etc? do you know if this particular engine responds well to tuning?

The engine code is a ER but these were only fitted to the city turbos and i dont think you have to many turbo citys over there from what ive heard.
Ive finished all the fuel setup , i mounted a bosch fuel pump in the rear and ran a 10mm fuel line to the front and used the original 5/16(?) line as the return, the fuel tank was modified with having a larger pipe for outlet and a return pipe fitted to the top of the tank.I also managed to use the city fuel filter mount and lines and have mounted this in the engine bay. In regards to tuning these do respond well with putting Honda Prelude injectors and larger turbo (2.8 rodeo diesel) for more info on these try www.cityturbo.com they are a very helpfull and knowledgeable bunch there...like here really :)

wellllll.....throught it was about time for a update, its almost there ....well sort of.
Since the last post ive had my exhaust fitted (sounds great too!) and ive assembled and fitted up my drive shafts and modified the tie bars as i had a clearence problem I even drove it (about 2 meters!) but it seem the lenth of my drive shafts were made to long and are binding
whats the options here then? it woud be safe to say i only need 5mm off the lenth ? but im not keen on getting the dive shafts remade for that ,plus i had a bad run with the place who made them so wouldnt want to spend another cent there.
Machine the CV?

get adjustable top and bottom arms and increase the track width.

as it turns out i think the lenths are ok ,there was something else stoping the car from moving  ...we will just move on from this subject shell we
Today i actually drove it down our drive way coulnt hit 2nd gear as run out of room but im happy about how it ran in the room i had....just need to adjust my tiebars as the wheels are rubbing on the flares.i also sprung a water leak so coulnt go far anyway.
Just need to mount my pod filter and a few other things and shes all done...i think

HI guys
Took the car for a drive today and ive gottta say im impressed with how these small engines go! i finally got around to finishing off the air intake and a few other bits and pieces and im VERY glad to say its finished and nothing else to do apart from the rego and a wheel alignment that it badly needs.
Ill post some pics soon
