It's bigger yet again, but has lower aero drag. Up to 192 lbs lighter on the cooper s manual, than the previous 2006. and the release says up to 20% better mileage

"The turbocharged variant in the MINI Cooper S generates a more stout 175 hp and 177 ft-lbs. of torque, and both models will be available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters."

I reckon its getting further and further away from the Morris look.
But that wasn't their main intention, I am thinking... from the styling they have

Isn't that a good thing?
If the car was a direct copy of the original all the dickwads of the world would complain about the car not being very new or creative or whatever.
The more different the new mini is the more retro mine looks. :D

Just looking at the pics compared to the current/ early versions, and I can't put my finger on it but what have they done so subtly that the car somehow looks cheapened or dis-pleasing to my eye? I just can't tell. Have they made the arse end bigger? The mirrors bigger? Ride height higher? Lowered the roof? Maybe its the bigger black plastic flares (I can't believe they've not ditched them)?
:? :?

i like the look of it better than the current model, the different engine is very good news and about time!

i look forward to seeing what the tuners can get out of this new turbocharged model

its sad to see the ridiculously stupid interior and bargain bin looking plastic arches are retained..
It worked on the old mini cos it was CHEAP, not 50 grand ffs.

Post 2004 as Pre 2004, except reverse light became fog light and light assembly was rehashed.
And Cabrio with dropdown boot hinging

Other variations come with body kits

the "stupid" interior looks good in my opinion, what the hell could they do to make it look more like the origional mini???? plastic flares look crap yes..

they cant make this car into an old mini, the old mini is not practical in any way and will NOT sell in this day and age. people who arent origional mini enthusiasts love these cars, when we are in ours, we get smiles, thumbs up, etc, thats why they designed it this way, to still look slightly like the old one, but then, be able to sell and look good in todays styling.

if you want CHEAP, buy something japanese, if you want QUALITY engineering, QUALITY handling and QUALITY speed, get a new cooper s.

i really do think some people winge on here just because they cant afford one, so they start talking these cars down, do yourself a favour, take a cooper s for a test drive, and shut up.

i don't know what the hell you're going off about, but for $50,000 you shouldnt get plastic flares. for a $10,000 rover mini thats okay.

i am not talking binis down, i think they're a fine car with a stupid interior and cheap plastic flares, a big pricetag and a shithouse engine.

rover minis were still selling right up until BMW pulled the plug so they could charge twice the price for the new BINI.

i think the new 2007 model is a step in the right direction though.

Yea I quite like the look of the NEW 2007 MINI.

Styled a little more like a Morris. Note the rear lights look like a cross between a Morris and a Leyland, in my opinion.

I read in today's paper that BMW will add the Traveller wagon to the range in 2007.
