Okay......
Well I have just spent the past 5ish hours reading thru pages and pages and pages of "Honda Brake Conversions" and come up with the following conclusion....
BLAH.
Yep. I am confused. But...... i'll try to list the points that I can remember.........
-Everyone else is using solid discs (pt # DBA 191) and matching calipers...... I want to use vented discs (pt # DBA 187) with matching calipers, as per this original thread.
-A spacer will be required to match the stepped drum offset.
-I keep reading that the "common" Honda calipers on solid discs (pt # DBA 191) machined down to 7.9" will not fit under 10 inch steel wheels..... but could POSSIBLY fit with wider spacers.
All I want to know is: will a 10 inch steel rim fit IF....
1. If I use the DBA187vented discs, and machine them down to maybe 7.5 inches (??),
2. shorten the caliper bracket design to suit (mounting nut clearance issues??)
3. shorten the pads to clear the disc flange, and
4. fabricate a spacer to match the stepped drum wheel track width.........
The only thing I am not sure of is what part of the steel rim fouls on the disc/caliper? What do I need to aim to clear? Will reducing the disc and caliper from 7.9 to 7.5 inches cure this fouling problem?
Either way, I am going shopping for parts in about 7 hours..... and havent slept yet.... so I wont see these replies til AFTER I get back.
