Not the 1983-87 ones I'm familiar with. Late ones would be, but I've no idea if they fit. Probably be too big I expect....

Civic Sedan rotors are vented. That is what is pictured on my car.

Love the whole concept of this conversion... so cheap and effective.

Now....... spacers........

To the best of my knowledge, here in Vic anything between the disc/flange and the wheel will displease the boys in blue (unless it was put there by the manufacturer, such as the HUGE spacers on the back on some 911's.... how big are those things....4 inches?), and make your insurance null and void. Can anyone with a better knowledge of Vic rules confirm or deny this?
Can spacers be engineer approved and thereby be legal and insurable?

So after this conversion if you were to buy rims... are you buys ones to suit a Honda Civic or Mini stud pattern?? Why dont I know the answer to this  but anyway.

Edit: And if I get 13s will they fit under the clubbie guards? Not worried about the flares, thats easy.

Cheers,
Peter.

Cheers,

You will have Mini stud pattern, unless you get custom drive flanges made (unlikely).

Don't be tempted to use 100mm PCD wheels on the 4.0"Mini PCD, I have seen wheel studs break because of this.

I did some phone shopping today....... I have a few "contacts" in the motor trade which comes in handy

For me, the total cost for these parts (as SEAN0719 has listed) will cost me AU$110 (US$70  )....... plus machining costs on a couple things (about another 50 bucks)

Some info....

-The Aussie version of the '84-'87 Civic sedan has SOLID discs.

-The '87 CRX has vented discs.... AND has the same part number as the '84-'87 Civic 1.5L Hatch and Wagon, and the '91-'94 EG33 Civic 1.3L 16V.

(pt # DBA187) priced at $70 per disc (retail - but I pay much less than that  )

-Calipers - not sure if the same caliper is used on the EG33 as the CRX, but theyre both $40 per pair.... 8)

A question about the picture below...... am I right in saying that I see REGULAR wheel studs.... and not the long wheel studs?????? I say that because your flange nut is completely exposed past the disc (if you look at stepped drums, the nut is within the step of the drum)

If yes, your car would have the narrow wheel track then...... where as mine needs the wide wheel track (Mini LS) to make the wheels fill the arches properly

Image

SO...... using the exact same bracket, disc and caliper, I would need spacers over the disc to restore my wheel track (with longer studs of course)....

OR

I could use a spacer between the flange and the disc.... which would allow me to fabricate a thicker caliper bracket (double the thickness at least) because the disc face would be moved away from the hub/caliper bracket........

I wonder if this would be safe/strong????

Might not be as simple as I thought..... I think I should go off and read the other Honda thread... for ideas.... dammit.

Hi there
does that mean if i was using 13x7's and stepped drums at the rear therear would stick out wider than the front.?????

Also supercharged 850 just so im sure the 87 crx uses the same disc/caliper set up as the 1.5 civic (as in pic), is that right ????

Thanks

Steven :P

This is what i had..a 25mm alloy spacer screwed intothe flange, with longer studs. This was with 12x5's.. and spacer drums on the rear and it had equal track..

When i put 13x7's on the moke they sat too far out the guards on the front, so we removed the spacer and put the shorter studs back in and now track is the same front and rear (non-spacer drum rear)..

so you don't need spacer drums on the rears with 13x7's, they
dont hit the inner gaurd???

That's on a Moke..pretty sure you can't get away with it on a mini :(

Image

edit: it's not the inner guard that's the problem, it's the shock absorber fouling..

AH yes...... the alloy spacer.....

Well, depending on how lucky I am at the local outdoor car parts shop today (saturday), I should be able to have all the bits ready to start fabricating....

And with my "other new brake ideas" that came to me today, there will surely be a surprise for everyone to masturbate over

This is gonna be cool 8)
