Yep, some states have lower requirements for older cars. Some let you put whatever you want into things like 1930s hot rods. Qld, as far as I know, isn't that nice. Even a hot rod would have to have a cat converter and charcoal canister if you fitted a late model motor to it. Crazy, I know. Even without that stuff, it'll be putting out less crud than a side valve V8.

Same goes for Individually Constructed Vehicles (ICV) like Westfields and other clubman style cars. The engines now have to be out of ADR compliant cars and less than 5 years old. It's a joke. Some guys take longer than 5 years to build the car only to find they have to go & buy a newer engine to register it. For the number of these on the road, you'd think there would be some relaxation like the UK has. I mean Victa mowers don't have charcoal canisters or cat converters & every bastard has one!!

Hi Guys
I really cannot see what all the fuss is about, wether you fit a charcoal cannister &
cat converter or not.
They are not performance robbing items of equipment
If the state you intend to register the vehicle in says in their vehicle modification rules
that they are rquired to be fitted, just do it
BUILD A BRIDGE, GET OVER IT

Just my 2c worth
