Hello,

I was just after some advce on which wheels to go with. I'm looking at 13s. I was wondering if there was any benefit with going with deep dish ones, or is it just an aesthetics thing?

all fo the "purist's" are all for the 10 inch wheels. believe it or not mini's went faster and handled a little better (quicker responce. not more traction) on 10 inchers

some people think 12' are the best of both worlds (and you can fit metro and 8.4's under them.

then most of the 13's are for looks I scored myself some 13x7's I really don't mind fitting flares or cutting arches (in morris's)

I am guessing from your Sig you have a GT. from memory you don't have to cut the guard's on them if you go 13x7's. However, 13x6 is probably as big as you would like to go 13x7's need some really big arches to cover them and they sit out a fair way.

so the short answer is it's soley a looks thing.

Tell us a bit more about your model, the brakes that are on it. any suspension mods and what guards you would prefer and someone will be able to help you out. Bigger wheels put more force on the suspension so unless your confident the suspension's up to it I wouldn't just slap on 13x7's they ain't light and are at least as heavy as 2 mini steelies

like everyone else i'm in the process of putting a starlet GT engine into a mini delux, it's just taking me a bit longer than most... i started in early 2005 and i'm just now getting to the wheels!!!! :oops: :oops:

i've got metro turbo vented brakes, so i have to go at least 12s... I don't mind putting on big flares... i just came across some "deep dish" 13s and was wondering what the difference is.

"Deep dish" refers to the offset - they will stick out further than most
Look really cool, but you'll need BIG flares to make them legal.

I have the 13*7's & have had them engineered.. You have to find the right engineer thou as 13*6's is as big as they should let you go... But again if you find the right engineer you will be right... A few other guys on here have been turned down on engineering the 13*7's... But DEEP dish looks so cool!

13x7's are all the same offset if drilled for a mini apparently **it does refer to offset** I look at mine and they are the deepest dish of any mini wheel readily available. Have a word with an engineer ad Dean say's they are the one's that need to give it their stamp of approval

I was told when buying the 13x7's they was only 1 offset they sold them in.

I was tempted to say you were posting in the wrong forum earlier lucky I didn't

So do the deep dish ones provide better handling (ie. wider wheel base) or is it just for looks. And does anyone know how far out they extend past the body?

mine hang out about 3 and 1/2 to 4 inches from stock. but that's with the spacer kit and fully adjustabale suspension. i'd say you would definatley need about 3 inches. and from what I can tell people say they make handling a bit worse but I would say it's probably not going to be a benifit or loss overall (more tyre contact area/ more heavy wheel.

definatley a bit more traction on offer for bigger HP conversions but on a a series it's a loss of performance.

handling will more depend on condition of wheel breaings, bushes and shocks etc. as more force conveyed will amplify any weakness if any.

SO the long answer to loss/gain? IMO gain if good suspension, not so gain if bushes etc are worn.
