You sure you're not confusing the BINI with the New Beetle? BINIs are made in the UK, however their engines are made in Brazil by Chrysler.

The BINI is acually made in 28 different countries - well the components are and are shipped to UK for assembly. Good ole BMW outsourcing their manufacturing to the lowest bidder. Not bagging the BINI though - all the majors do it now for the bottom line.

" Your weapon is manufactured by the lowest bidder!!"

Hooroo

The washer jets are even made by Ford.

Im still here, I lurk but generally CBF starting anything new because there is always some mean spirited knob or other who cannot rest until we all know the bile that is on their mind and how wrong they think BINIs are.

We are all on Mini2 on a daily basis. Some of us still lurk here, but we rarely contribute. Its like Poki said, whenever anyone attempts to discuss anything MINI related in here, there's always some tool who comes up with some crap about buying a subaru instead.

basically, if you're a new mini owner this place is a public toilet. OK if you're desparate, but no place to make friends.

I dont know - I made a few friends from your mob on the Briars W/E. Pity I had to leave the run at the Robertson Pie Shop and head back to Canberra. Had a ball and not a bad run at all...

Knobs will be knobs - each to their own. Makes them lesser persons.

But one thing for the new mini guys, can you spread it about to wave when us meek fellows wave at you...lol

Hooroo and drop in - I am sure we aren't all knobs here

I try to wave at any mini looking vehicle on the road, I get a positive response about half the time. (Just a note, it is the cooper owners who dont wave.) You are right about the knobs too, for some reason it tends to be amplifed here because there are so few posts. It is like having a neighbours dog trained to crap on your lawn as soon as you have finished mowing it.

Either way, there was a mixed run today of ausmini and mini2 folk and it was all sunshine and lollipops. It can and does work when everyone works at it. :D

Yes, like others have said, I'm always reading ausmini but can't be bothered posting :(

Most of us were MINI2 users long before we found ausmini :)

Been waving to classic Mini owners ever since I got my first MINI, responses are generally good, about the same as from MINI owners.

yep would have to agree too, still lurk but cant be doing with the prats who find the need to hang shite on the MINI. Everyone is entitled to their opinion at the end of the day but some twits on here have made it all too clear we are not particuarly welcome.

What most "classic" mini owners forget is just about every MINI owner has had a mini or still has a mini. We love them both but dont feel the need to bag the other with stupid stickers or snide remarks or ill informed ignorant posts.

As for waving at mini's, I wave to them all and will never stop waving at them all. We had a combined run with SDMC on the weekend and it was great.
