Chong, I would have stayed longer but had to get to the wreckers to find that shifter. It wasn't there.....I found it when I got home (in the bottom of my toolbox  )

re: Chrome strip: - Heritage MG sell it by the roll, but I think a roll will do 10 Mini's. I got mine from Colin Dodds, who works from home in Kelliville. He used to be 1/2 of Mini Spares and Repairs. If you want some now, I would advise you to try Karcraft, or Mini Spares and Repairs at Castle Hill. At least they are open on a Saturday

Next time you are in the Hills, give me a buzz and drop in. 8)

Rest of box looks OK, but it's not apart yet. I'll pull it right down.
The motor (1152cc) is fine- and it has a 12G295 head on it, with 1275 inlet valves, and a duplex cam chain & sprockets too.
Cam is down at Russell Eng's now, getting reground.... I'll tickle the head next weekend..:P

Wow! when am I getting all this done for mine??

Er... you gotta be a `nocard carrying member' of the MDC first!

I only fix busted ones I take pity on, and they bring the bits, not the car, to me- yours ain't busted.. yet!

You can get SOME Dellorto parts at Carburettor Service Co,
240 Parramatta Rd,
Burwood,
NSW.
phone # is 02 9747 4066

BUT, Dellorto bits will get to you faster and much cheaper (around 1/2 price) from UK.
log onto www.dellorto.co.uk
and email them for a price list.
Then fax them your credit card info. Stuff takes about 1 week to here via post. 8)

<EDIT> S/H Dellorto or Weber carbs from Ardita Spares or Manning Motors, both in Sydney.

I just got some air correctors- they were half the price of Carb Service Co.

If you want chokes, don't stuff about. Get from UK. Nobody here has stock, Carb Service are not really agents for Dellorto, they get stuff in from NZ.. and they had no 36 chokes there either when I wanted some.

crap.. now that i have the price list... what is everything that i will need from them (id hate to do an order only to realise i'll have to do another)

can i buy the gaskey kits for one carb??

i currently have 34mm chokes.. i'm thinking this is slightly on the large side for a stock 1098 with nothing more than 3-2-1 extractors and sports exhaust

34s are fine in a 1098. That's what Chong has, it'll tootle down to 50KMH or less in 4th and pull away OK.

Check what jets and emulsion tubes are in it, then see my post above.

Josh! you're a man of your word! Hope things work out for your engine and sorry I had to run! I made it just in time back to strathfield  I would have liked to stay to help out and learn what the problem was... what is the problem?

Oh by the way it is the dissy that was making it miss. I rechecked the contact points gap and filed away some of the gunk and it's going great now! permament fix will have to be a pulsar dissy...

Hey Chong,

No worries, glad you made it on time!

Glad you found the problem, Pulsars are the second most loved Japanese vehicle besides Honda's ;)
