Going over 3000rpm isn't "thrashing it out".

YOU'RE the one that took your wee-bore out to big numbers (in the 7000 region), and boasts about it .

:o
So

well no, I get about 300K's from a fill, and I like to drive my mini... not that I have a tacho but I usually change gear at what sounds like 5k...

changing gear at 3k is only ever going to labour the motor and wear out your bores...

Mate i think you are fighting an uphill battle. my cars generally see a gear change at 4000rpm. if i feeel like it i may change below that, but under 3 is just crazy

sounds about right... my 1330+290*cam+45weber+all the other bits gets 8L/100km easy - and thats with plenty of "spirited" driving (NEVER changing below 4k - usually more). Minis are made to be driven - no point putting around :D

Hey spaceboy.. don't mean to pick on you.. but why "bull" to the gear change...?

He (Josh) doesn't get called 'Top End JC' for no reason....
Look at our past cruise videos.. he's a hoon !

I don't think I have ever changed gears below 3000rpm in Betty ...
But hey.. maybe we're crazy

your fuel economy figures are way off
especially if you "never change gear below 4k"

infact it is usually illegal to be going that many rpm in anything but 1st or maybe 2nd gear
