Guys was looking up something else for rego on the DOTARS site and came across this. Basically this will become the de facto standard for vehicle modifications including our engine conversions.

http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_ncop_downloads.aspx#3

Cheers

Matt

PS. It states that the largest engine capacity is based on the original factory weight of the car with its largest factory fitted engine and without periferals like air con compressor etc. It also has to be the sedan not a wagon! So for sake of argument 650kgs x 2.5 (turbo) = 1625cc

I am sure my rego papers for the roundnose say it weighs 620kg hence meaning i can only go to 1550cc turbo.

It's not based on the weight of your car,
it's based on the weight of the heaviest production version of your sedan

Pity they didn't release a bullet proof Mini then.

I just looked up the Leyland Workshop Manual and they had the weight split into full fuel tank and a thing called registration weight which was 2 gallons of fuel. Based on this the heaviest was the Clubman GT at 709kgs with a full tank and 678kgs with 2 gallons...

So based on that the number would be either 1695 or 1773cc's.

Cheers

Matt
PS. On my rego papers the weight was always 875kgs tare

The weight that the RTA use in NSW is not what is in the workshop manual. It is something that they come up with on their own.

Just looking at the old rego papers for both my cars......
Morris Cooper 'S' 680kg
Leyland Sedan (1275LS) 680kg
This is what the RTA used. I don't know if they still have that weight or what weights are on the other models.
Could some other people post the weights off their rego papers?

The Leyland Australia Workshop manual lists the following....
Kerbside weight (full fuel tank)
Mini 850 630kg
Mini Deluxe/K 652.4kg
Mini Matic 676.9kg
Clubman 657.3kg
Cooper S 716.36kg
Clubman GT 709.8kg

Registration Weight (2 gallons fuel)
Mini 850 618.35kg
Mini Deluxe/K 638.32kg
Mini Matic 661.93kg
Clubman 643.23kg
Cooper S 663.63kg
Clubman GT 678.5kg
Now these weights are strange. Notice the Cooper S is heavier than the GT with full tanks but lighter with 2 gallons on board.

So in other words the weight that the RTA is not fixed its based on the weight of the specific vehicle given that it seems they round them and the numbers are different from model to model.

So given that the maximum capacity is a formula it could be anything (within limits)...I got my weigh ticket and the Mini is 740 with full tanks...
