Well guys went over the pits to get the signoff on the 6 minor issues with the car plus the ID check. Tick, tick, tick, tick all going well. Then a "technical officer" sticks his nose in and "Sorry mate I am not going to allow the rego the engineering certificate isn't detailed enough". I argue but to no avail. This especially pisses me off as the previous "technical officer" did even bat an eyelid.

Then I get the ID check and the guy goes as well as your reciept of purchase for the halfcut, I need an import certificate from Rolin's. Oh and the VIN number isn't 17 digits long.

I explain to him that its not an Australian car so of course it ain't going to have a 17 digit number its japanese! One shot to Matty!!! Can't argue one way or the other on the import certificate but can smell bullshit when I hear it. Ring Rolin's and as I thought you only need an import certificate on whole cars, not halfcuts or engine packages.

So short story, back for another try this coming Friday. Have rung and emailed my engineer who I have instructed (demanded) to ring the rego people. So we will see how we go. Still at least all the little items including the back brakes got through so that is one little ray of light.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt,

Yake Stripey along with you incase they give you a bit of lip so he can kick them in the balls.

Apparently he likes to do that!

Probably wont help with the rego though.

Good luck this Friday.

Cheers,
Andrew

Matt...give me a call....several people have had problems with these jerks...one in particular can advise you on a course of action that works.

Very sorry to hear that the locals are maintaining their reputation for being absolute [expletive deleted's].....what a hick town we live in....(sometimes :D)

Cheers sporty, Yeah Andy might be the only course of action. Yeah Mick it is very annoying, the first time they picked me up on things and to be fair they were justified and I went OK fix these up. I wasn't expecting to get through first go. But then this pr**k basically went "I don't like this, I'm going to make your life difficult". I argued but short of decking the guy, which occured to me, I wasn't going to get far. Give me the details of this guy who has the secret weapon because if they (rego guys) even remotely argue the toss this time I am going to ask for the name of each guy who argued the toss and well...

Cheers

Matt

Yeah thanks Dean, mate its the "little bit of power is a dangerous thing". I also think they don't like my engineer, so they are trying to prove a point. I also have to convince the ID check guy that only full cars required a inport certificate, halfcuts and engines don't. So I will be phoning DOTARS on monday.

Cheers

Matt

Minstar - he wouldnt be indian at all would he??

I pulled him up in the Russell carpark trying to lift peoples bonnets to see the VIN and engine numbers. His excuse was "I am able to do it under ACT laws...".

He then asked if he could look at my car(the mini) and I said well whats stopping you - nothing in the last 15 minutes has!!. He said the Dellorto was illegal and my tyres were bald(tyres were a week old!!!!)and thats when I snapped and hurled a tyriad of abuse and threats at him. Told him to defect me(which he cant as I have NSW rego and the inspection covered the dellorto insallation) or piss of. As Indians do - he wobbled his head and tried to argue back where I pounced on his name and badge, rang his office in Dickson and gave them a mouthful too. The supervisor came out about 10 minutes later and asked him to leave. F$%king arsehole!!!

I said pigs arse and told him to leggit before I called the police. If it is the "Indian"fellow, take his name and report him to the head shed...I am sure his file is very large.

Anyway - rant complete and Minstar - I really hope you get this through. Looks a treat and if they are going to push the small crap, take it further(as long as you can back it up).

Thanks Rob. No luckily it wasn't though I have heard about the "Indian Guy" from a number of sources. As previously stated the original head honcho "technical inspector" was fine and then this guy turns up and starts being a pain the arse.

Do you or anyone know who I should go to above these guys. I dare say there is a director of the motor registry or something that I can talk to.

Cheers

Matt

crap sorry to hear that Matt, sounds like the halfwit just decided to stick his nose in where it was not warranted. If he is there again you could ask for his boss and ask him to explain why the difference of opinions and what sort of bullshit he is ogoing on about the halfcut.

Usually when you ask someone 'can i speek to your boss' they start to wonder if they are going to get in the crap!

Good luck this friday mate.

Dan

Bottom line is if the work has been signed off on by the engineer and it is all within the guidelines, I would be talking to the supervisor there. IF(!!) you have dotted your "i"'s and crossed t's, they havent got a leg to stand on. I would also drag your engineer in on it and place it in his lap as he is the one who will need to justify the work. As for the dickheads at the inspection, they have to pass you if your car meets the standards - not because they dont like it...

Their opinions are not worth the letters printed on their name bars - they are scum and should be dropped off a very high cliff - defect that you pricks!

mate if you have another run that's as bad, I have a suggestion that works in my experience. sent the car down with the missus (with the low cut top on and short skirt) when they say we'll have to look at it get her to giggle inocently. and car passed. missus perved on, but Rego is that easy. It's worked for me before.

for years I have had a photo of me looking really mad. everytime you walk into Rego in Canberra youve forgotten something or you have not done this the right way. ALWAYS the same way, you could go there 20 times in 1 week and hear 20 different stories.

sorry to hear it looked pretty nice at Wheels. Good to see everyone drooling on it as well. Their just jelous your power to weight's better than their public servant issue camry

Yeah Hugh, it was funny the older guys kept saying why'd ya bother (which I would have thought was self evident) but the young guys were going like "I bet she goes", "This thing must fly" etc etc. Like I said before I think this one guy who made life difficult might have a personal problem with my engineer? When I mentioned it to one of the young blokes he said yeah we're always having problems with XXXX.

:( :(

Well good news guys (No not rego that's Friday). But I rang and left a message (that imported halfcuts didn't need a import certificate) and this guy Branko rang back saying that he has looked at the issue and confirmed that the halfcut isn't stole etc and that my ID Check certificate will be available when I turn up. Which is a great relief.

Also I have received the revised version of the engineers report with more detail in the required areas. I am going to fax this to the Rego guys. My engineer did ring him (left message) and this guy in question hasn't returned his call in two days. So if he kicks up a fuss I think I have him dead to rights.

Also got it insured yesterday for $10K. $435pa from Shannons.

Cheers

Matt
