I was thinking of having 45 or 90 degree bends into the log which would have allowed me to lower the log, but found the clutch slave cylinder was in the way so ended up with the straight out pipes.

I have to say i am happy with the result and feel that it will work well as i have choosen large diameter pipes for both the log and runners. The runners actually passed all the way through the flange and have been welded from the back and then ground flush. This has allowed me to have the max size runner i can fit and reducing joints where turbulance could occur.

I am unsure as to actually trying to run pipes/elbows into the log as i think it would be restrictive to the upstream cylinders. If you find you want to this then you should try and make an equal lenght manifold (probs for round nose due to restricted room).

So I'll try and find some time this weekend to fit it and start on the dump pipe/exhaust.

Some update photos of the exhaust manifold, dump pipe and modified intercooler intake pipe.

This photos shows the additional pipe installed to help with the wastegate gasses.

Dan, mate that is a work of art. Very well done, a very neat effort. Are you welding with gas mig (GMAW)? Also I gather you have welded one pipe directly onto the intercooler, does this mean you can also weld aluminium? Either way mate great effort. Nearly there mate I better get a wriggle on  . Watch out for the MAP sensor :D

Cheers

Matt

pfwhroar! THATS BLOODY AWESOME! i am loving this approach more and more with every update! just wondering why you decided to stick with the stock IC instead of going a liquid-air barrel IC? other than the fact that it would be just another THING to find room for :P

i'd actually like to buy a set of those pipes you've made dan :) how much? :P

with the radiator thing you reckon it'd be possible to fit 2x motorbike radiators under the wings? just above the wheels?

Thanks for the support guys.

Stripey, i started looking at bike radiators but still have not found anything that i would be happy with. The radiator will probably end up under the boot.

Matt, I am welding with gas (argosheild) and finding i am getting much better welds by far. The Aluminium welds were done by one of my contractors he does a good job.
Its good to see your issues are coming to an end and i hope to drop in and see you in the next couple of weeks.

Inazuma, decided to stick with stock IC at the moment because of dollars, but it will probably happen at a later stage. I'd make another set but with two kids and trying to finish my own project i don't think i have the time (i suppose it depends on how long your project takes).

Dean, Thanks but i think you still get the bling award.

998, i going to keep the car in its original colour saxon green with 12inch rims, deseamed rear bumper and boot hinges removed, minor air scoop in bonnet, possibly deseam front bumper???, 850 grille. Interior is retrimmed original (may have to change front seats for more comfy ones), timber steering wheel to come, mini speedo and smiths gauges. So i suppose you could say a semi sleeper??

I've roughed up the next section of exhaust pipe from the dump to the tunnel.

I was concerned about the amount of pipe you could see as it came around the bellhousing but i think the number plate will pretty much cover it up.

On another note- look at all the room you've now got where the turbo used to sit. You might fit atleast an oil cooler in there?

Did you get a result to your oil relocation kit questions on austarletclub?

Looking good.

JC

I didn't think about putting an oil cooler in but may look at it now that i have room. Not much of a response from Austarlet about removing tthe factory oil relocator and just fitting the filter straight to the motor. But i have a few ideas so i think i can make it work.
