On a Hot 1275+ why wouldnt you run a 2"SU?

In most cases I think the 2 inch would be too big 1" 3/4 seems to do fine if you want bigger most people go a 45 webber or dellorto

The bigger carb you got the more you lose torque down low :wink:

I would have thought I would lose response due to inertia of the larger parts but Torque? wow why is that?

I'd agree with the torque.. I drove a clubby with an 1100cc engine today.. it had twin 1.5" SUs on it.. it was powerful, but didn't have much torque down low.. My deluxe has twin 1.25" and you can really notice the difference. On corners I could take in 3rd in my car, it would shudder and I'd have to switch down to 2nd in the clubby.. just an example..

Twin HS4s are really too big on an 1100, unless it's a race motor. Twin HS2s suit them great. :wink:

i used a jag 2"on my blown engine, it worked well, had to upgrade the feul line to 10mm tho

here we go again,
With the SU the piston rises to allow what the engine requires in Air and fuel.
The SU is a fab carb because of this.

I ran twin 1.75 inch SUs on a street 1330 no worries.

Also I ran a 1275 eater 998 screamer with a 1.75 inch SU again no worries.

The SU is different from like a Weber that forces fuel into an engine with a pump of the pedel.

& i`m building the """twin"""" 2 inch SU set up for it now :-)

hee hee,,,you`re getting to know me well hey cush ???

& i once set up a pair of twin 1&1/4 SUs on a honda zot,,,you know , the little 360cc bike engined things???

well they`re not quite a 2" but it`s the same comparison really on such a small donk,,,& yeah i did have to light weight the carby pistons to get it to respond better & also had a huge time with modifying the dampeners, but then,,,,,well,,,,even i was impressed, you should have seen the look on the face of the customer after he took it for a spin :-) Massive!!!!!!!!!!!

as Ty says,,,they`re a pretty dam versatile carb, & it`s the simplicity of the variable ventury that allows them to be suited so well to anything, big or small, just that you really do have to "Know" what to do when doin something "out of the ordinary" , you can`t just expect to bolt it on & be sweet.
