Yeah true, but if that is "all" there is on the market in high quality, then it has to be done.
And better sooner than later... gotta get the ball rolling!!!

The proper flares had little plastic studs to hold the flares to the body (not to the support) and then you have little metal clips to hold the flare to the support.
You had to drill about five holes for each flare in the body to take the plastic studs.

Hmmm so they must be different design to Clubby S ones, they have SFA holding them on, and no holes in the body.
I always thought they were almost the same except front end of front ones.

willy do em properly by welding a lip to your wheel arcs. They will last much much longer and be much stronger as well...

Yep of course i will do this 8)
The paint shop needs the flares next... they have welded on oversize lips and need to rest the flares on so they can cut the not needed bits off

see if you can borrow some from some one for the purpose of measuring them for the lips.

I have a pair and i have a set of lips waiting to go onto a project - you can measure them should you go past here on the way to Brissy.

Just bought a set of clubby ones the other day for my 68 deluxe. ($20 at the wreckers). they need work but they will come good. This included the steel supports which I believe don't come with the new ones - you will need to make them.

They have the cutouts for the support fixings into the body, but these weren't used on clubmans - not this one anyway, just pop rivets under the chrome/plastic trim.

As far as I can see there is no difference between Clubman and round nose - the screw on plastic ones will fit either car.

Mick, the Mk1 did have flares, in South Australia and seeing how willy is in South Australia he is right. 8)
Look at the photos of Mk1's racing in Series Production races in 68 and 69 and you will see them with flares. So they must have been a production part.

Not the group 2 flares. (they were used on Improved Production) I am talking about Series Production racing (like Bathurst) where the car had to race they way they were made with no options.
