Yeah Dean you're right. But you know how it is, some says "I welded up my subframe last weekend", and I'm thinking to myself "crap it took me 6 weekends to design and weld up mine. Still that's all done.

Still I dropped it off at the Auto Elecs and I am bit worried they don't have a clue what they're doing which means it might end up costing me an arm and a leg... :(

Hey Matt,

Well the demon is on the streets.

Congrats big boy - you deserve it.

Its coming up to 12 months for me on the 25th April - thats the date I did my first cut.

And I still need to finish the rear boot, and the rest of the fab, and then paint the car.

I think yours is about par for the course.

Anyway - enjoy it.

Cheers,
Andy

Yeah that pretty much puts it in perspective. How much do you reckon would be a reasonable amount to pay to have the headlights, indicators, fuel pump and wipers hooked up by and auto electrician? So they work off the starlet instruments...

matt i think i got quoted $250-$300 for that exact job when i was building mine, i ended up just doing it my self except for the wiring in of the fuel pump which i got done as it needs to be done through the ecu.

Ah Brad I am glad you mentioned that I was wondering that because I heard that some ecu's control the power to the pump so that is lowers the pump pressure at idle and bumps it up when you floor it. Well they tell me it should be ready next week as they are short staffed so I guess a bit patience is required...

Sound good Minstar
The ECU doesn't control the fuel pressure the regulator on the fuel rail does according to the manifold pressure .

92, some cars including Toyotas run a variable speed fuel pump circuit. This delivers variable voltage to the fuel pump thus changing the output (PSI) the pump delivers, the ECU monitors things like throttle positon to determine wether more fuel is needed and increases or decreases voltage accordingly. This was mainly to minimise noise from the fuel pump on large fuel pumps and to make them last longer. This is also irrespective of the fuel pressure regulator.

Cheers

Matt

4efte's use as simple on off relay controlled by the ecu (and start position on the ignition switch) so the pump runs at a constant speed

Thanks 92, that was my question really, does the 4efte use a simple relay or is it something more complex. Thanks for the info, I couldn't find a definitive answer on the internet.

Cheers

Matt
