Just had a chat to Neil Allport. He'll do the Sparco 'Rev' for NZ$650+gst, but didn't sound too keen on getting the Sprint in (he doesen't stock them). Says they used to but feedback wasn't great, or it wasn't popular (I forget exactly).

rev's will fit...but i dont think they are ADR (i know you are in NZ but i would imagine their standards stuff would be similar) approved...also they are rated for smaller drivers...its only 12inches (30cm) wide at the point where yer butt goes...thats even smaller than the imola's which are 13 inches wide at the same point...i could sit in them...but it was only comfortable for about a minute or so...

if yer a small driver and you can get it approved for road use then i'd get those...DAMN sexy seats...looks wise i'd go them over sprints anyday...

if he reckons sprints are crap safety wise he doesnt know what he's talking about...as for their popularity i can see why they might not be top-wrung...they look ugly until you see them in a car...he's just trying to get more money out of you :P also...thats a DAMN awesome price for the revs...they cost over a grand AUD here...

I find the sprints fairly comfortable, and they saved my life.
I'll be re-using them when my car hits the road again in 06.

Don't think there was a question of safety etc. I'm pretty sure h knows his stuff!

As far as what's legal here it's weird - seats are one of the VERY few areas where the rules seem a little looser that aussie or other countries. Basically if it's "made for purpose" and it's by a "reputable company" then it's all good.

Seat mounts are a different thing though. No mater what I do I'll need to get it all certified which is a pain.

fitting sparco seats is usually done with the cobra rail mount (coz they make them specifically with the mini in mind) modified to fit the sparco frame...personally...unless yer good with a welder, i'd get them professionally installed...then you also dont need to worry about getting stuff approved as much as it should be more straight-forward if its professionally done...

just make sure you fit comfortably in the seat :) that'd be my main concern if i were you
