Andrew,,,be more realistic,,,120hp AT THE WHEELS is gonna break crap & cost chunks,,,back it off a tad & be happy with that,,,other wise you will want to build """2 Minis"""

agreed...100hp atw was my original (pie in the sky) target...i didnt even realize that was possible until i did a bit of research into the forced induction options available...i am expecting to spend good money on this mini...not MEGA $$$ but its a staged multi-year project...so whatever it takes to get around 100hp at the wheels will make me happy...if the whole project ends up costing $30,000 its acceptable...its just gonna take a long time :P

i wont be using all that power all the time...just when i wanna drag some ricer or give it a bit of stick coz i feel like it...but thats not all that often...just want the power available when i want/need it...

i think if i was to stay with a series i would love a 1415 with a blower for a roady or for a roady/track/fun car a 1275 block bored out with a large journal short crank sth african style with a turbo and intercooleer i think Matts doing the last one but with the twinky head as well

1415 was what i was thinking about (actually 1412 bored and stroked) then forced induction...still dunno if i wanna go SC or TC...i am still like a year off sorting out the engine anyway...so its not a decision i need to make RIGHT NOW...just kicking thoughts around at the moment :P twin cam head would be AWESOME...but then we talking REAL money for the donk...and would mean i would have to wait another 8months or so longer till its driveable...i would like it...dont get me wrong...but if its gonna cost $10,000 for the head alone...no thanks :P

i was looking at a KAD head...not considering buying it coz its just STUPIDLY expensive...i have no idea how much a beamer head kit would cost...i dont really have the knowledge to do it myself like matt did...

the main reason i dont wanna go a hybrid is that i dont like the idea of cutting heaps of the body out to fit it...if i could achieve a hybrid conversion without cutting away much (preferably none) of the body i'd seriously consider it and almost certainly do that in preference to the a-series...

The beauty of Jap motors also are that they run cleaner as they are injected, so you don't end up with a cabin full of petrol fumes and a headache to go with it.

I went this way with my Datsun 1600 a few years back and it was the best thing i ever did. The conversion was far cheaper than building a high performance L-series and the car always ran smoothly and cleanly.

Thats why I decided to go down the track of the 4efte into the roundnose.

Put some pressure on Matt - tell him he only has a year to come up with a price for the Bimmer head kit for you

Combine that with a blower or turbo & you'll have a fantastic A Series!

what about an elder 8-port head i think there was talk that they were around the $4k mark which is pretty good considering how much you could spend on an a-series head :?:

Yes but almost any engine will fit in a Datsun. 1200s fit CA18s and I think SR20s fit with rediculous ease makes me jealous  :P Oh and the utes weight about the same as a mini

Same I think it is similar with the L series blocks on 260Zs etc or just grab a 280ZX motor
Little brother does datsuns. 8)

i`ll be doing all the pricing up pretty soon now,,,my bimmer twinky is on it`s final "dummy build" so that makes it pretty dam close to being a runner

the big hold up with this program is the Monaco fastback body & approval,,,,sooooooo,,,,,i`m seriously thinking of just shoving the whole bimmer twinky into my old blue "S" to run around in & test it all with

pretty easy to do at this stage, & i`m getting very very eager beaver to see what sort of numbers we can pull outa this here little toy myself

besides, i`ve been hangin for a fangin for a couple of years now,,,it`s now the longest time between races for me EVER!!!!!!!!!!

&&&&,,,i`ve also worked out that it`s not so important to use a stroker crank in the bimmer conversion,,,in fact makes it a fair bit harder to sort & also more costly, when all that`s needed is say a 1360cc & the bimmer head & a decently matched turbo injection set up & you`re away,,,no NEED for the stroker at all,,,want more grunt???,,,switch over to the other tank full of good juice,,,click over to "program #2",,,,& turn up the wick :-) easy-peasy

i`ll have a final "BASE" price in a few months for you all

the preasure is on now,,,i`ll have to actually do some work now :-)
