I'm gonna go a flip front on the van with the honda under it, the front on the van is badly out of shape from a previous life, and I have another front ready for it but what do you guys reckon about the order to do it in.

Should I build the subframe and put the motor in before I cut the old front off, to make sure everything is gonna fit, or cut the front off and sort out the subframe and then fit the front over it....

depends which is gonna be the least hassle, and least likely to cause me problems later... I'm leaning towards getting the frame right and the motor in before cutting it, cos at least then I'll know that it'll all fit properly, and if I needed to weld the front on I could... but on the other hand, I might be able to fit the motor a little further forward if I go a flip front, meaning there is more room for intakes and stuff down the back of the motor

here's how I want to do the front, courtesy of Gafmo from ages ago

that one has to be one of my Fav mini's,,even the colour

me personal I would get every thing rite then do the chop, may be a little more time and effort consuming but atleast you know every thing is where it shoud be. Thjen after its in and the flippy is on, you may have some more room and more mod's could be made

I would make the flip up first, as it will make working on the motor/subframe heaps easier (read the other conversion theads - see how many times you will have the motor in & out)

You can easily lift the flip on & off when the motor is in to make sure it a ll still clears at any stage then :)

I agree, make up the flip front first and then you can easily work on the subframe and motor. You will have more access around your subframe and it should be much easier to fit the motor and all the ancillaries. You will have to make up a jig for your subframe and make the major modifications in the jig.
