cannons look really good, and sound great, maybe not as loud as a straighthrough, but they have a deeper note.

The original god himself, David Vizzard, offers the best advice and is nicely summarised HERE. (Scroll down to "What BOLT ON modification gives the best increase in performance")

^^^ My opinion, your kilometreage may vary  It's the advice I'll be following. Basically David Vizzard's books are probably the best basis for improving the performance of your mini.

Now I remember WHY I run a 45 Dellorto, not a Weber..
Carb $100-200 S/H,
new jets & chokes $100,
Fuel Miser DE-250 rebuild kit $25,
S/H manifold (Redline 12-3005) ~$100 (fits Weber too),
new linkage kit ~$100 (or make your own up).

For $800, you could nearly buy a NEW Weber & manifold..

Latest issue of Mini Magazine on sale here has a feature article on getting more power out of the A series. All pretty straightforward stuff.

Vizard''s two books are good value and so too are Clive Trickey's very early tuning manuals. Bear in mind those that this is old technology, and while most of it is still applicable, there have been some major advances in Mini tuning during the last 20 years.

But for basis stage 1 - 3 tuning, tried and tested over many years, you can rely on the above sources.

well his price was as i remember "$670 fitted" so im hopeing that if i go back he isnt like "its all put on, oh and by the way u needed *this, this this and this*, that'll be $1000"

i should just get $700 worth of ricer bling (cannon, etc) :P

just to get an idea of the power gains i would get... would it be equivelant to the difference between having a passenger in the car and then not having one? if u know what i mean? like driving it as if i wasnt in the car (lighter = go faster)

sorry guys, its late

no power gain watsoever...
not enough back pressure with a cannon like that on such a small old motor.
if anything you'll lose acceleration id say.

Well at the last dyno day, Mini Mad's 1152 (45 Dellorto and 295 head) was about 1HP better than Gafmo's 1152 (HIF44 and modded 202 head). Previous dyno day the figures were reversed. So there. Dello sounds faster though... :P
