paint the cage or the car? :?

depends.. if your talking about the cage.. you coing bolt in? or weld in? or both.. if its been welded in the car you will need to paint it in the car...

if all bolt in. then paint first then bolt into the car. :)

I was under the impression that as long as they don't inpead your fast exit from the car, that DOT would not worry about them.

In Vic, intrusion bars are allowable - BUT, the last time I checked it out, they had to be no higher than the seat cushion so as not to impede on entry or egress.

This was my understanding as well for Queensland.

Basically if you find someone willing to put a blue plate (engineering Approval) on the car then Main Roads were happy....not their problem anymore

paint the car...i was gonna get the cage painted at the same time...although i dont really care what color the cage is as it will be covered in pads anyway...as long as it doesnt rust i am happy with any color..i would prefer bolt-in coz its removeable...as long as the safety is comparable :)

Queensland Transport Code of Practice - Light Motor Vehicles

Section LH - 1.2.1

The roll over protection structure must not obscure front seat access nor encroach upon the area occupied by the driver or front seat passenger. Horizontal braces alongside front seats are not acceptable.

There it is in black & white (well, blue & white :D ). If someone were to blue plate your cage like that then they are liable. I doubt very much that you would find someone willing to do it regardless of bribes.

As mentioned before, if you really want them for the track make them bolt on.

Mine arn't 'horizontal' Sort of sloped down at the front. I have seen a few of the minis around that are road registered that have side intrsusion bars that are welded in.

No figure
