I think that if you see 8.8 its a metric bolt. imperial bolts use lines.
btw... are all bolts on mini's unc/unf? no bsw at all?
I know that you can interchange bsw and unc (except for 1/2') but are they all supposed to be unc/unf bolts?

There are NO BSW bolts or nuts on a Mini.
Around 1960 (give or take), BMC and most of the UK car industry went to using UNF and UNC.
No more friggin' BSW and BSF, with their funny bolt head sizes... :D

<edit> last car I know of that had (some) BSF threads, was the last Morris Minor (UK built with 1098 motor)- they were holding the top suspension/shock units onto the body.

Forget about bsw & bsf - not used on minis.

All you need to know when ordering bolts for your mini is:
unc - course thread
unf - fine thread

Have a look at some of your bolts - the unf have about twice as many threads per inch as a unc bolt

BS can be found right throughout ausmini

British Standard & Unified National

UN was adopted during/after World War II to bring the poms into line with the USA.
Then once they had that sorted, they joined the EU & changed to metric

Bloody pedants  I meant they changed to metric fasteners
They should be finished changing over to metric fasteners in about the same time it took them to standardise on UN series threads - thirty years
