You'd want to be doing all of the above yourself, cos if you were getting that outsourced, none of the above is applicable

Bugger off
A series all the way mate.
Don't listen to any of the others.
If you're a true mini man, you'll have nothing else cept the good old A series.
Nothing else like it... and you can still call it a Mini when you're done.

My views only.
They're not accurate in any sense.
Don't listen to me.
I'm a fool.

Over and out.

Well i'm in the middle of this now...I have a $5-10k budget and i'm going 4EFTE..

I looked seriously into high NA horsepower A-Series and the bill came back similar if not more than the conversion in the case of 8-port power.

Go the Big Hp 'A' series. Nothing beats the sound of a Mini at full noise... And there will be no "Oh, what'd you go and do that for? That's not a Mini" Blah blah blah...

And when you're done with it, someone will always want it. Not some Ricer kinda thing that was squeezed in there with gafa tape and zip ties (what would we do without 'em?) because you tried to do it on the cheap. Its always gonna look bad when you do it on a tight budget like that.

And what will you do when that ricer won't start? Nothing, because there is nothing you can do. Call the NRMA/RAA/RACV and watch them go "huh? i can't help ya there matey... Better call the towie"

Mini? Easy. Jump start it, because it's only a flat battery and that won't effect the weber, and off you go... :D

BAH, HUMBUG :!:

A $5k A Series will put out less power than a 4EFTE & be far less driveable.

and the "it's not a real mini unless you've got to push start it" gets real tiring after a while

My 2 cents

I voted for the 4EFTE, but if I was doing it, it would be big block A series N/A (or maybe turbo). Why? Because I can..... and I have a lifetime supply of gearbox parts! :P 8)

the problem is $5k doesnt get you very much now days unless you know someone or are doing totally by yourself.

I must admit i have spent a lot more than that on motors but its been a trial and error thing over the years getting the power that i want and getting it to the ground.

pulling away form a 2.4 skyline on a straight also a corrolla FXGT (4AGE motor) over taking a fully prepared 2Litre escort on the track all this doesnt come cheap and now i should have even more with the thanks to Graham russell, but i will see once i get it rebuilt and set back up agian.
