i don't know whats going on with it then, as i had a 998 before and it had no where near the power of the motor thats in the car at the moment, but it doesn't matter a new engine will be going in soon. does anyone know much about turboing is it safe to turbo a block with a 60 thou bore?

Yep the 99H is a 998. UK built motor. Same bore as a 1098, & block is identical.

Barney had a `998' like that in him, with unusual power... turns out that Mini Kingdom put a 1098 crank etc in when they did the motor up. :lol:

Measure the stroke:
Put motor on TDC #1 cylinder- put a pencil into #1 then #2 cylinder, measure depth from plug hole to piston tops. Difference is stroke. If 76mm it's got a 998 crank, 83.7 it's a 1098. :wink:

i'll have to try it, do 998 and 1098 engines have the same length conrods?

Yep just a Different stroke in the crank as the Dr said

Are they different pistons?

It's been a while but I thought they had different skirt heights.

Yes, the piston (gudgeon) pin to crown dimension on a 1098 piston is 0.148" shorter. This (along with the 0.296" longer crank stroke) means the piston crown to block deck height stays the same as a 998. :wink:
