I have to agree with people - ditch those big gauges. They really mess it up. Maybe you could make a something to enclose them into the dash, rather than having big ugly things ontop...

Have you had your engine and gearbox in yet??? ---> How close will 1st and 3rd gears be - gonna get bruised knuckles??

hey guys, just an update, the dash is in high fill as well as the BA console, all major work on the dash is complete, just need to make some brackets , mount the daihatsu heater and fix the wiring, then full steam ahead :D

Maybe try painting the chequer plate black, then getting the tops of the ridges rubbed back to mirror finish..... just for something different....

Speco are a good brand and dont cost the earth. Autometer are riding high on their reputation and basically will not run any better than a speco. We did a basic test and ran HP air through 2 identical sized guages(1 autometer and 1 speco). The speco held on until 311psi where the autometer blew at 195psi - maybe we were lucky but I like the extra $100-odd bucks in my pocket thanks.

On guages, I have finally received my Moon Eyes Tacho from the US and cant wait to get it into the mini(why - because I can!!) and only cost me $77 bucks. Very period too...

Minimech - Noels pitstop in Wagga have a big line of guages so might be an option for you...website is below

OOOOO - I am sure the RAAF sustainment flights twice a week could pick them up for you. I do have some contacts in HQ 55 and 53 who may be able to help. Leave it with me and I will give them a bell...I am sure there are some deck plates that have nothing under them.

Miniot!!

PS - when the autometer guage blew we were behind a 44 gallon drum and the guts of it shot clean across the garage - I was in stitches as was my learned collegue. I havent laughed so much in a long time as we fragged the entire garage with debris. We then fed a postie 125 cc step through a gutfull of methanol and avgas and took it for a spin. Was fun for an hour until the piston decided it wanted to ventilate the crankcase. Oh the wonder of youth(misfounded at that!!!)

Rob
