Anyone know why Mini's seem to be dirt cheap over there?

Also anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have one shipped over here and would you be able to get it registered here?

Thanks..

Swap you for a Phase III GTHO, a mint Wayfarer and the Bledisloe Cup. Hang on, we've got it already.

Minis are probably cheaper here than Oz because we've had decades of cheap Japanese 2nd hand imports, so cars in general are cheap. But I seriously doubt whether you'd save much buying one here and shipping it, with the total cost of doing so in the thousands. Plus you'd probably find less rust in an Oz car - rust seems to claim most of ours.

Isn't the ozzy dollar like the american dollar, yeah i have a couple of nice little runners, (rust buckets), 2 lady owners (plates have been changed) mini mk1 cooper S (mini LE) with matching numbers (matches 4 other cars) 1275 motors (morris 1300 motors from a land crab), good tires (retreads that went out of production 6 years ago) resprayed to original colours (painted with a riplex roller over 15mm of bog to cover up the rust) comes with guarantee (never to see your money or car agin) cheap at half the price (your currency is stronger than our lets rip you off) $15000 each paid upfront (bye bye with the money here is a shitter.

How many do you want?
all payments must go via nigeria so my bank manager can make usre they are legit.

To be honest you guys seem to have more of the interesting stuff left over there than we do.

There are probably more roundies over here judging by the mix of cars on Aus Mini. Most of our cars were UK sourced so it is rare to see the range of clubbies that you have.

To be honest from what I see driving around the streets day to day most of what is left here and not owned by enthusiasts is in pretty average condition. Given that you can pick up Jap imports for next to nix the older British stuff is disapearing really quickly from our roads.

I recently attempted to import a car (a 1974 Toyota Corona RT112 pillarless coupe - if any Kiwis know where another one is!!!) from NZ to Aus. Shipping quotes to Melbourne ranged from $1,000 to $3,000 NZ dependant which part of the country the car was in, whether it was a runner or not and whether it was going RO-RO (roll-on, roll-off, chained to the deck) or in a 20" container.

BTW before anyone asks, two minis will not fit in one 20 foot container, as internally they are only about 19 feet and two minis end to end is 20' 2". :(

Cheers,

Sideways - would be fun. :)

Mokes were exported stacked on top of each other with the screen and top in a wooden box. I bet the guys who bought the one on the bottom of the stack wondered why the suspension sagged so quickly!

If you shipped in a ute shell you could probably build in a frame to fit another Mini above the ute tray.

Or you could fit three Minis and a LOT of parts in a 40 foot container. :)

Will you all stop talking about stealing OUR minis! They're rusted, expensive and driven by blind people, you wouldn't want them!
